"They say that pictures are worth a thousand words. I could tell you how once Aaron Capello (the salesman) took our bid, and our money, we never heard from him again. I could tell you how a quoted 6-week bid turned into an almost 6-month job. (The bid was for 4-6 weeks out. The fence was installed 6 months later) I could tell you how Brie, the "scheduler" was put in charge of our job and contacted my mom once; every other time we had to call her. I could tell you that the job boss rescheduled multiple times, and never showed up on the days he said that he would. I could tell you how we ordered and paid for, REINFORCED Vinyl, as the fence is bordering a horse pasture, yet what was installed is a cheap material and feels like if a strong wind comes along it will blow it over, and there is absolutely ZERO reinforcement. I could tell you how the custom gate, which we spent extra to have built, is not reinforced, has some flimsy piece of vinyl across the backside that is only decorative and NOT reinforcing, and that the gate itself only needs a little pressure and it's already coming apart. I could tell you how the End post that was installed for the existing chainlink fence is NOT an end post, but a center post, and still does not have a top on it. Or how said post is not attached to the vinyl fence. Or how the workers failed to stretch the existing chainlink fence so that it sags. I could tell you how neither the gate nor the fence is LEVEL. I could tell you how NO ONE has come back out to the property to look at the fence after we notified them of all the issues. (Now over a month later) Or, I could just post pictures and you can decide. Generally, the height of your dog fence should be 3 times the distance from the ground to your dog’s shoulder. For most small breeds, a 4-foot high fence will be more than enough to keep them from jumping out. Medium-sized breeds like Golden Retrievers, Labradors, and German Shepherds will need at least a 5-6 foot fence to stay contained. Large breeds that are also excellent jumpers, such as Greyhounds, may need a 7-foot high fence. 

In most cases, you will need a building permit to put up a vinyl fence, especially if the fence is sitting on or close to your property line. You can ask your local building department or  fence installation company if your fence project will require a permit. If so, you can expect it to cost between $20 and $60. Your fence installer should pull the permit for you. Building without a permit could eventually require you to pay again to remove the fence and reinstall it after getting the job approved.
