"Our experience with Retrospect was fantastic, and we plan on completing more projects with them. We were concerned about our project initially because we had already completed custom cabinets, sink, granite countertop, bead board, and baseboards in this bathroom several years ago. Retrospect took extra care to protect all this work. We couldn't be happier with the way it all turned out. Communication and commitment was great. Their schedule for our project was as promised. No delays. Dan answered questions through text as we thought about them. They take pride in their work and it shows. Beautiful work on this tile and the entire project. They pay attention to detail, are easy to work with and have the utmost integrity."

"Marinda is the freaking Queen of cabinets. She knew things none of the other guys knew that we called. She had an answer for everything and navigated us through all the questions we had and helped design the absolute best looking and functioning kitchen and bathroom I think we have ever had. Our old house looks like it belongs in a home show. It is goregeous and we literally have a place for everything with room to grow. Storage maximized while still looking phenomenal. Marinda is a must call for any kitchen or bath remodel, absolutely worth every cent!"

"The installation was scheduled to take 2 days. James, Brandon & Teegan stayed overtime and finished in one day. Communication, Installation and the Finished product was excellent. 3 Safely rails were installed at just the correct position and height. Everything was cleaned up as if they were working on their own project. 3day Kitchen and bath did not return my calls. We bid the project in January; I would say it was 4 Month 5 Star Kitchen and Bath and one day, however the wait was worth it......"

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel questions, answered by experts

To make a small bathroom look bigger, choose light-colored tiles in a medium- to large-format size. Lighter colors like white, cream, or light gray help open up a room, making it feel larger and more airy. While it may seem counterintuitive, small tiles can actually make a bathroom look smaller because the increased number of grout lines creates a busy pattern that visually shrinks the space. Instead, opt for medium- or large-format tiles for a more seamless, expansive appearance. For the best effect, pair your tiles with a matching or similarly colored grout to create a continuous surface that enhances the illusion of a larger area. Avoid dark colors, heavy patterns, and contrasting grout, as these can make the space feel more confined.

If you’re doing a full bathroom remodel, the flooring will go in before the vanity and any other bathroom cabinetry. This will ensure that the same floor is present across your whole bathroom should you ever tear out your vanity and start again.

If you can only budget for one or the other, you can still replace just the vanity in your bathroom. Just keep in mind that if you decide to replace your flooring later, you’ll need to tear out the vanity to avoid having mismatched floors.

Just like the rest of your roof, a dormer will last as long as the life span of the materials used in construction. Slate, clay, and concrete roofing can last for over a century, whereas more standard roofing materials, such as asphalt shingles, last closer to 30 years. The structure of the dormer itself, however, should last the roof's lifetime when properly maintained. Only the window, insulation, and eaves may require repairs over time.

Whether it’s better to add a bathroom to an upstairs or downstairs floor will depend on the home’s layout and your needs. Powder rooms and guest bathrooms are commonly on lower levels, while primary bathrooms are upstairs. When deciding, consider where the bedrooms are located and where your family spends the most time. If you don't have a bathroom in the basement but use the space, adding a bathroom there could be a great option.

If you are fortunate enough to have a renovation budget of $100,000, your budget can take you pretty far. Considering the average cost to renovate a home in the U.S. is about half of that, it should be enough for several upgrades and aesthetic improvements. The actual cost will depend on factors like the size of the home, material choices, and whether you hire remodeling contractors or take a DIY approach.
