"I was on the market for a security system and this one seemed easy enough to install.......went through the process and some of the window sensors were not working. I called Customer Support who was very friendly and we went through the entire process again...this time other window sensors did not work. This went on for a week or so...then the door senors stopped working....than the motion sensor stopped working...at no time in over a month did I have a fully operational security system. As I was about to return the system I was told they have "new" sensors and they just realized they received a bad batch and are working with another company.....Gave it a try....and same issue returned....some sensors worked....some didn't. I finally returned the system and stopped getting emails.....only to find that they were still billing my credit card even after I returned the equipment. Very nice people and very understanding.....unfortunately their product is not up to par. While we do have a large home, it's an open concept and the sensors that weren't working were no more than 15ft away from the base. The previous owners of my house had a wireless system with no issues at all.....I'm going to be using that company going forward."

Hurricane Film questions, answered by experts

Hazard insurance is the part of your overall homeowner's insurance policy that covers the structure of your home and other structures on your property, as well as any personal property within those structures. When a lender requires you to get hazard insurance for your new home purchase, they’re referring to a standard homeowner’s insurance policy.

Standard homeowners insurance policies do not cover floods or earthquakes. These natural disasters are only covered by secondary policies or as an add-on via your current provider. This is because not all areas are prone to these types of disasters, so not every homeowner should have to pay for this type of coverage if it won’t be used.

Solar panels that haven’t been properly inspected and maintained pose several risks to homeowners. Firstly, a dirty, obstructed, or malfunctioning solar panel won’t be able to generate as much power, which could lead to power shortages and wasted money. But more importantly, neglected solar panel arrays can become dangerous if left for too long. Corroded wires and exposed circuitry are fire hazards, so it’s strongly recommended to keep up with regular maintenance to protect your home.

Yes, a ceiling leak can be an emergency. While a leak may look small, the source of the leak could cause major problems for your home and wallet. It can lead to water damage, which—if left unchecked—can mess with the structural integrity of your house. Large ceiling leaks lead to copious amounts of water passing through your home and can cause your ceiling to sag or—in worst-case scenarios—cave in.

The most obvious sign of ice dam problems is large icicles forming on your roof or your gutters. You might also notice water spots on the underside of the roof decking or wet or drooping insulation in your attic. Severe damage from ice dams can include water spots on the ceilings inside your home.
