"Airlock came and did a home energy audit for us. Shawn, the Auditor, showed us exactly what he was looking for and what all the results meant for our home and energy efficiency. He interpreted the problems that we had with our home, such as some rooms are much more comfortable than others. The energy audit was very thorough and he provided a super in depth report of the results. He also provided a list of upgrades in order of their cost effectiveness and we decided on several. We decided on the Air Duct Sealing, which would help the hot and cold rooms and provide energy savings. We also decided on sealing can lights and adding attic insulation. They managed the whole project from start to finish and made sure everything was done properly. We really notice that our home is more comfortable now and we are thrilled with the savings on our energy bills."

"their work was amazing, the aesthetic look of the equipment was amazing, they did an amazing job on the aesthetic look of the whole system. they were able to install the pipes up and the whole system works perfect. out-front and best from the rest of the estimate was below compared to other service providers. "This company did all electrical in our newly built custom home, including installation of central vac. We couldn't be happier with the responsiveness we received. Our city wasn't easy to work with, but he did a great job of communicating with city inspectors to get through inspections timely. We subsequently hired them to retrofit a commercial building/storage facility for all electrical after leasing it. Again, great work and very responsive. Pricing has always been competitive and estimates were consistent with actual price paid. We would and do recommend them to anyone and we would use them again. - Doug Nielsen"

"Brent & his son did a great job on our bathroom remodel. They did exactly what we wanted without trying to sell us all the latest and greatest in bathrooms. They did a very professional job and were friendly, honest and followed through with all our requests. Our dog Lady even liked having them here, which is not the norm. We usually have to put her in a spare room when workers or visitors are here. She knows the "good guys" when they come into our home."

Energy Efficiency Auditing questions, answered by experts

Upgrade to double-glazed glass or apply energy-efficient coatings to reduce heat loss and utility costs.

Yes, skylights can affect a home’s energy efficiency, either positively or negatively. Properly installed, energy-efficient skylights with Low-E coatings, double glazing, and UV-blocking glass can help regulate indoor temperatures and reduce heating and cooling costs. However, poorly insulated or older skylights can contribute to heat loss in winter and excess heat gain in summer, lowering overall energy efficiency.

Yes, energy-efficient options such as LEDs and solar-powered lights are available. These alternatives consume less electricity, resulting in lower utility costs. They are also more environmentally friendly due to their reduced carbon footprint and longer lifespan.

You can increase your home’s load factor by replacing fuse boxes with a circuit breaker, hiring a licensed electrician to upgrade your electrical panel, upgrading wiring, or installing subpanels. An electrical inspection by an expert can help determine the state of your current electrical systems and how they can be improved.

Window AC units use a fair amount of electricity, but significantly less than central AC systems. Because they are more energy-efficient for cooling individual rooms or small spaces, their usage is comparatively low. On average, a window AC unit consumes between 500 and 1,400 watts, while a central AC system uses over 3,500 watts—meaning a window unit uses about one-third of the energy. This typically translates to a monthly running cost of $15 to $40, although this can vary depending on external factors.
