"While I didnt end up doing the project because it ended up being outside of my current budget, these guys were far and away the most professional and the most responsive of all of the companies that I contacted about having my vermiculite insulation removed. Their prices were fairly middle of the road when it came to the quotes that I got, but their attitudes, response times and overall professionalism put them far and above all the others. When I go to look into this project again, these guys will be the first company that I reach out to work with. I look forward to interacting with them again and I sincerely hope that they do well in the future. Keep up the great attitude and work guys!"

Asbestos Removal questions, answered by experts

It is strongly advised not to touch or disturb asbestos-containing materials unless necessary. Asbestos fibers can be released into the air when the material is damaged or disturbed, posing serious health risks if inhaled. It is best to leave any handling of asbestos to trained professionals who can remove the asbestos safely.

The legality of covering asbestos tile with new flooring can vary by location. In some cities, it is not legal to cover asbestos tile due to the risk of causing fibers to become airborne. While a professional method called encapsulation can seal the asbestos in place, it is not always an appropriate solution. In other areas, covering the tile is a legal and reasonable option to prevent fibers from spreading and reduce health hazards. However, the best long-term solution is to have the asbestos professionally and completely removed from your home.

Older textures may contain asbestos, requiring careful handling and professional inspection before work begins to ensure safety compliance.

Whether or not to buy a home containing asbestos is ultimately a decision for the homebuyer, and there are several things to consider. When in good condition and contained, asbestos is unlikely to present a health risk—it’s when those tiny fibers are loose and airborne that they become a problem. Consider any renovations you plan on doing to the home that could disturb existing asbestos and the cost of removal. If an inspection finds asbestos in a home on the market, you could negotiate with the seller for a lower price, though this isn’t a sure thing.

If you think you’ve touched asbestos, do not put on a mask. This is important because you may take the asbestos fibers on your hands on trap them in the mask. Make your way to a sink and wash your hands thoroughly. Remove any clothes and seal them in a bag, then take a shower. Call your doctor and let them know you’ve been exposed to asbestos, and make sure you see them as soon as possible. The reason you keep the clothes is in case anyone wants to confirm the presence of asbestos.
