"They did everuthing we wanted and probably more. Quick and clean, interacted with us very well. Others had told us the water would be off for all day but they had it off for maybe 2 hours. Dustin and Drew I feel were outstanding"

"

When I got down to my home in St George, I noticed a significant leak out of the emergency pop off valve of the water heater, onto the floor in the garage. I called my neighbor who is much more home repair savvy than myself, over to take a look and offer suggestions. I looked at the production date of the existing heater and it was 13 years old so it was time for it to go.

It was late, about 10PM and I found the listing for Steele Plumbing on Angies List. The offered 24 hour emergency service and I needed it done ASAP because I was going back up to Highland the next day. She asked that I call in the morning about 8AM and when I got her on the phone Friday morning, she said that there would be a tech out between Noon and 2PM.

Josh showed up at the house right about Noon and we looked at the problem and he answered my questions quite matter of factly, was very polite and friendly. He gave me an estimate which was okay and I told him to go ahead. He had a new water heater in his truck and promptly went about installing it. I talked to him along the way and he explained more things to be aware of with water heaters and servicing them regularly.

I'd say he was there about an hour or so, I was gathering stuff up so I could leave and didn't really watch the time. He did a fine job, asked if there was anything else he could help me out with and I told him no. My neighbor who'd come over and was watching, told him there were several things he would like Josh to look at over at his house. So Josh went over there after he was done at my house.

Great young man, great company, I'd use them again.

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The cost to unclog a drain varies based on the location and severity of the clog. For simple clogs within your home, such as in a sink, toilet, or shower, hiring a plumber typically costs between $110 and $350, with an average of around $200. Snaking a toilet or sink usually costs between $110 and $275, while a bathtub or shower clog costs about $225.

For a more serious clog in the main sewer line, the cost is higher. Clearing a main line clog generally costs between $200 and $600, with an average of about $380. However, prices can range from as low as $100 for snaking a minor clog to over $1,600, particularly if advanced methods like video inspection and hydrojetting are needed for a large or hard-to-reach blockage. Some severe main line clogs can cost upwards of $1,000 to clear depending on factors like the cause of the clog, its distance from an accessible cleanout, and whether the pipe is located beneath an occupied space (e.g., in an apartment building). You may be able to save money on minor clogs by using a drain snake or bladder yourself.

You could be smelling sewer gas in your kitchen because of a dry P-trap, clogged vent pipe, or leaking plumbing seals. If you smell a rotten egg odor, check your sink’s P-trap and plumbing connections first. A clogged or damaged vent pipe can trap sewer gas and push it back into your kitchen through the plumbing pipes. Loose or deteriorated seals around drainpipes can also allow sewer gas to leak out. If you can’t find the source, call a local plumber for expert help.

Common drain issues include slow-running drains, whether in a sink or shower, clogged drains, a bad smell, and water backing up into a sink, shower, or bathtub. Causes range from hair, grease, roots, or toilet paper clogging the drainpipes to flooding outside the home, which prevents sewer lines from draining properly.

The type of clog in your sewer main determines the required cleaning method. Different types or methods of sewer main cleaning require various tools like chemicals, mechanical removal, or a combination of both. Some of the most common types of sewer main line cleaning include:

  • Minor debris removal: $100–$600

  • Tree root removal: $100–$1,000

  • Trenchless pipe repair: $60–$250 per linear foot

  • General line repairs: $1,000–$4,000

  • Full pipe replacement: $3,000–$25,000

This depends on the location of the blockage. If the blockage is in your home’s system, anywhere in the system, it is your responsibility as a homeowner. Blockages seldom happen because of items or buildup coming from the city, which means it originates in the home. It becomes the city’s responsibility at the exact point your home’s line distributes waste into the city’s system. The exception is if the problem in your home damages the city lines.
