Customers say: Quality work

"Working with Adam and Nate, through the estimate and scheduling was great. David completed the job and did an amazing job. We removed a window for a remodel. We filled in where the window existed and Alta completed the repair stucco work. They sampled the stucco color prior to the actual work. The match in color could not have been better. Almost perfect. Not too bad for stucco that had been on our home for 29 years. Unless you were told of the repair on the stucco you would never recognize it was done. Thanks to the Alta team. Will recommend them to anyone and will use them in the future if/when needed."

"In short, Mr Exteriors exceeded expectations. They responded quickly with an initial bid and to all of our follow up questions. Once selected, they started work the following day and worked diligently to completion. They did quality work and did everything they said they would do. Their bid was reasonable, and they were pleasant workers. I highly recommend Mr Exteriors."

Stucco questions, answered by experts

A standard drill will work just fine if you’re drilling small holes, and only a few of them. But anything with a diameter larger than 3/8 inch is best done with a hammer drill, since it is stronger, faster, and also makes your drill bits last longer. While you don’t absolutely need a hammer drill for stucco, it is a worthy investment if you think you might drill more holes down the road.

Stucco will dry in two to three days, but you should wait one to two months to allow it to cure fully before you paint it. The curing process is slow, but leaving the material exposed to air and natural moisture will help it reach its maximum strength. If you live in a hot, arid climate, wait a month before painting. Wait two months before painting if you live in a more moderate or wet climate.

Neutral colors like white, tan, beige, and light brown are the most popular stucco colors. Natural stucco has a grayish color due to the high concentration of Portland cement in the material, but most homeowners have their contractors add pigments to create a more inviting appearance. Stucco is most popular in hotter climates, where it provides ample insulation to regulate interior temperatures and keep the solar heat out. Since lighter colors reflect more sunlight, lighter stucco is more prevalent.

The cost to replace the chimney crown or top is about $1,550 on average. The range varies widely depending on the size of the chimney, the materials used, accessibility, and the extent of the damage. If you suspect a problem with your chimney top, call a professional masonry contractor for an inspection.

If it is applied properly, stucco is a durable material that can last between 50 and 80 years, especially with regular repair and maintenance. Things like painting the stucco every 10 years or so will help it last longer. The location of your home plays a big part in the life span of your stucco, too.
