Replacement would have entailed demolition of the walls and floors in order to remove the tubs so we opted to try to have the tubs resurfaced. Even with some damage to the existing porcelain the repair and repaint turned out beautifully. I would do this again rather than go to the expense and mess of replacing the tubs.
