"It took him 3 days to install the ceiling fan. He kept dropping everything parian he would drop the same screw 6 times. I would have to pick it up for him. I ended up having to tighten screws while he held the latter. I paid him a $125 just to leave. He calls me up today and tells me he wants $75 more because it took him 3 days to do it. He picked a fight with my Neighbor Because she asked him to move out of her parking spot. My ceiling fan I have to get somebody to come in and repair it or install it correctly. You get what you pay for. Now this clown is stalking me telling me he knows where I live."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

You can use a double-pole switch for a regular light fixture, but it's unnecessary and won’t be the most efficient choice. A single-pole switch works perfectly for standard lights. Double-pole handle high-power appliances that require both hot wires to be disconnected. Using a single-pole switch for regular lights is more cost-effective, simpler, and more common in residential settings.

If you’re replacing wires from an electrical meter box to the breaker box, you may also consider installing a new meter or replacing or repairing the breaker box . You can tell if the circuit breaker is bad if you’re dealing with tripping or worrisome burning smells. Both projects should also be handled safely by a licensed electrician.

Many homes have a 200-amp service, which requires a 2-inch electrical meter riser. Larger homes or homes that require more energy for several appliances and devices may have a 400-amp service. For 400-amp service, opt for a 4-inch electrical meter riser.

To fix a tripped light switch, locate your home's electrical panel and identify the tripped circuit breaker. It will be in the "off" or neutral position. Flip the breaker entirely to the "off" position, then switch it back to the "on" position. If the breaker trips again immediately, there may be a short circuit or overload in the system, requiring further investigation. If the switch still doesn't work after resetting the breaker, check for loose wires or faulty components in the switch itself. It is always best to consult a licensed electrician for persistent issues and when in doubt.

Outlets with only two slots have no ground connection. That’s more common on very old outlets, which means it’s more likely the outlet won’t be polarized. You’ll have to closely examine the slots to see if there’s a size difference indicating polarization. Keep in mind outlets this old are usually out of code and should be replaced if you’re doing any electrical work.
