Vinyl is the cheapest gutter material, averaging around $3 per linear foot. They’re more affordable than other materials because they’re easier to install and more lightweight—which, unfortunately, also makes them less durable. One downside to these methods is if your yard slopes back upwards to your home, then the water won’t actually flow away. Stainless steel gutters are in the middle-ground, costing between $9 and $20 per linear foot, and copper is the most expensive at $15 to $30 per linear foot. 

You can start by looking for gutter companies in your area with several years of experience, the proper licensing and certifications, and positive customer reviews. We recommend speaking with a few gutter companies and comparing price quotes before hiring a gutter installation company. Ask whether the gutter installer will perform an in-person or virtual consultation ahead of installation, giving preference to teams that visit your home. You can also ask for customer references and warranty information to find the best value overall.

The best gutter types for metal roofs are half-round gutters and K-style gutters. These gutter styles attach to the fascia with the use of hidden hangers, since there aren’t shingles to attach the gutters to metal roofs.
