In 2017, I embarked on a journey in the irrigation industry. My experiences and learnings inspired me to acquire my license in 2019, paving the way for the launch of my LLC in 2021. With a mission to revolutionize our understanding and experience of irrigation, I aim to make an impact by educating clients about water conservation and efficient usage.

"TX Mile service contacted me in a timely manner. Their service and resolution to our need was professional and at the top of my expectations. From the start and through the completion of the job they communicated each step. I would have no reservation in giving them my highest rating"

"Longs Irrigation was easy to work with and advised me on all phases of the job. They also gave me a good price on the concrete block used on my wall. I would recommend that they include “retaining wall contractors” in their title so others will know that they do this kind of work as well."

Lawn Irrigation questions, answered by experts

If your lawn has some lumps and bumps, yes, aeration can help—although it may also be beneficial to take on other steps, like irrigation, fertilization, and dethatching (also known as scarifying). You can also use a power rake to physically break up the bumps in your lawn, which can help you achieve a more even look.

Almost all lawns can benefit from aeration, but not all lawns need aeration services. If your lawn has puddles of standing water, uneven grass growth, thinning grass, dries out quickly, or has a good amount of thatch, aeration is worthwhile. On the other hand, if your lawn is healthy and your soil isn’t too compact, you may be able to skip a year of aeration.

To prepare your lawn for core aeration, water it the day before you aerate. (Alternatively, you can wait until it rains and aerate the following day.) Aerating after watering or a rainy day will make the process easier since you can penetrate moist soil better than dry soil. You should also flag your sprinklers so that you don’t accidentally hit them while aerating. If you have a lot of thatch buildup in your yard, you might need to dethatch your lawn before aerating as well.

When your sod is new, you should keep an eye on it to prevent dehydration. As new sod plants its roots into the soil beneath it, it can easily get dehydrated and start to turn brown. Keeping a consistent watering schedule for your new sod will help prevent this issue and will help it thrive as it roots into your yard.

Once your sod is about six weeks old, you can start to establish a regular lawn maintenance routine, complete with mowing, edging, and fertilizing.

Professional lawn care can increase your home’s value, as it beautifies your exterior and improves curb appeal. Potential buyers who pull up to a house that looks neat and clean will get a great first impression, and savvy buyers will know that a well-maintained exterior is probably indicative of proper care for other things, like electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. Ultimately, a lawn that’s professionally cared for can boost your home’s appearance and lead buyers to offer more for your house.
