"CertaPro came, answered all our questions, and gave us an accurate estimate. We had told them that we would buy the paint, but it turned out that they could get the same paint cheaper (Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint), so we had them buy it. They weren't the cheapest bid we got, but they were affordable enough that we had them paint our deck, too. Very high quality work! Great communication throughout."

"Harrison and his crew exceeded my expectations! They extensively prepped our house including covering all surfaces that should not be painted, and caulking all the seams before painting. I was nervous about getting the exterior of our home painted, but was so pleased with the final result! Harrison made sure the job was completed smoothly and quickly. Thanks for a job well done!"

Small jobs welcome

"They replaced all my old carpet with vinyl plank flooring and put in a new tile backsplash in my kitchen. The results look great and Gustavo was very responsive to any concerns I had. Of the 3 contractors I consulted for my project, he was the only one who I felt gave an honest, accurate, and fair estimate. I?d recommend GG Remodeling as a trustworthy source who?ll get the work done well and relatively quickly."

"This was a major project to paint our entire stucco house. We needed to have roof, deck and stucco repairs done before the painting. These prior projects took longer than anticipated. Vivax worked with us to change the schedule several times as the scope of the earlier projects became more clear. They were patient and professional throughout."

"We hired Jaime and his team to paint our cabinets and interior. This team was professional, listened to what I wanted, cared about my home, fixed things quickly and caught every detail! This team completed the work and my house was left CLEAN. Jaime is a family man who loves what he does and enjoys helping people get the home/room they want. I found most trades show up randomly, ask for money in advance and leave trash everywhere. Last, Jamie has a terrific understanding of paint types, colors, sheens, stains and VOC's. After speaking to him about what I wanted to avoid, he helped me find the perfect paint type with minimal VOC's. We sorted through colors and his feedback was really valuable. helpful. It turned gorgeous! Some advice he gave me is to not paint the sample on the wall (use posterboard) or you get a sheen."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

An exterior paint job typically lasts between 5 and 10 years, though this can range from 3 to 17 years depending on several factors. The longevity is influenced by the quality of the paint and primer, the quality of the application, the local climate, and the type of surface being painted. For example, paint on wood siding may need to be redone every 3 to 7 years, while painted brick can last up to 17 years. Aluminum siding often needs repainting every 5 years.

No, you don't need to stain Ipe decking, although you can if you want to change the color. You will, however, need to apply a UV coating if you don't want the natural color to fade. Speak to a deck staining specialist near you to discuss the best options if you want to stain your decking. And remember that you’ll need to seal your Ipe wood deck annually to protect it from scratches and Mother Nature.

The best way to protect a deck is to prevent damage from UV light, water, mold, mildew, insects, and abrasive cleaning methods. Sweep regularly to prevent debris that hides bugs and traps moisture that can result in mold or mildew growth. Use a deck cleaner once a year to remove algae, mold, and mildew. Avoid using pressure washers on high, as they can damage the wood. Applying a deck sealant can protect the wood from UV and water damage, and adding shade can also reduce sunlight damage.

Limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces if you apply them correctly. Use on non-suitable surfaces can cause issues. For instance, applying limewash or whitewash to surfaces with existing sealants or incompatible materials may lead to poor adhesion or flaking. Also, harsh cleaning agents on limewashed or whitewashed surfaces can damage the finish. Proper preparation, application, and maintenance ensure that limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.
