"Express Electrical charged me $50 for an estimate on what I figured would be a $200-400(MAX) job and they came up with $4500. Gabriel (Technician) was super helpful, courteous and gave me the nuts and bolts of what was going on that was causing the short. He of course recommended a new panel ($2000 still significantly cheaper than Express) but understood that those resources were out of my realm and proceeded to provide a safe and viable long term fix. Probably not the best fix but he certainly did not try to take advantage like Express. He came to the door ready to work and got on the job quickly and troubleshot effectively giving recommendations along the way and answering questions. If you want no frills and straight up bang for buck, this seems like the go-to team."

"Ed Riley is extremely knowledgeable about what causes lighting and how to protect from it. He explained to me which and how structures develop static electricity that lead to lighting discharges in a way that the physics made sense to me. They were also reasonably priced and kept their word. Definitely recommend them."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

You’ll need to locate and hire an electrician near you if there’s an electrical project you don’t feel comfortable tackling yourself. Generally, look for a contractor that specializes in the type of appliance or component that you need help with. For wiring, outlets and similar projects, a general electrician is your best bet. For larger remodels, a general contractor will often take care of electrical projects via subcontractors.

While some doorbells go silent, others will ring constantly or randomly when they are on the fritz. A doorbell can ring continuously for a few reasons. The button may be stuck in the "on" position, causing the bell to sound repeatedly. Alternatively, one of the wires could have come loose and is touching a metal surface, causing the bell to short circuit and keep making noise.

If you’re outlet isn’t working but the breaker isn’t tripped , that could mean a number of things. First, check if it’s a GFCI outlet, which has added protection so your breakers don’t malfunction. If that’s the case, simply hit the outlet's reset button and see if it works. If it doesn’t, or you don’t have a GFCI outlet, you might have a loose outlet or loose wiring, a damaged breaker, or an overloaded circuit, which would require a dedicated breaker. It’s best to consult with an electrician to diagnose the problem accurately.

Yes, you must use an extension cord specifically rated for outdoor use to power outdoor lights, such as Christmas lights. Extension cords intended for indoor use lack the protective properties to withstand exposure to outdoor elements. To safely hang and power lights outside your house or in your yard, always connect them to an outdoor power source using an outdoor-rated extension cord.

If you've ever tried to run your dishwasher while drying your hair, you’ll understand why dedicated circuits are essential for preventing blown fuses. Appliances that require more electricity than the circuit can handle could blow fuses, trip breakers, overheat, and risk an electrical fire.

Having a dedicated circuit ensures that your appliance gets the current it needs without overloading the other circuits in your home.
