I was bidding the job for my step-daughter and had to travel about 30-minutes to meet contractors. Even so- sometimes I had to wait to meet up with the companies bidding on the job. In the case of Bickel, however, they arrived early and were waiting for my on both bids and, later, they beat me to the house when the work was actually performed. Although the work was performed by employees, Ron Bickel personally did the Quality Control on the job- which gave me the impression that he valued my business, even though the job was "small" by most project standards. The job took approximately 6-hours to complete. My step-daughter was very pleased with the results. During the framing of the carport, an exterior lighting fixture had to be moved and re-installed. That evening, we discovered that the lighting fixture (on a photo-cell/motion detection sensor) was not operating correctly. I called the company and they quickly agreed to have someone look at it. They worked around my step-daughter's working schedule (she is a nurse with a variable work schedule) and actually performed the work on a Saturday to accommodate. The light is now working correctly. It is apparent that the company backs up their work and is careful about preserving their reputation in the greater Temple/Belton, TX area. At the time of bidding, I was not a member of Angie's List- so I used the BBB listing (A+) and local recommendations to identify Ron Bickel Construction as a candidate for bid. Now that I am an Angie's List member, the reviews seem to echo what I had heard locally about this company. I would recommend that you include this company as you proceed through the bidding process."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/temple/ron-bickel-construction-and-roofing-reviews-5292818.htm"},"position":2},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Home Performance Concepts","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"TX","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Gary W."},"reviewBody":"They phoned and arranged a time for the installation and showed up promptly as scheduled. Very professional and courteous. The whole installation took less than an hour and they cleaned up afterwards. The only downside: With the old turbine I could see it turning and knew it was working. This solar one has no visible moving parts and is extremely quiet. Some sort of indicator that it's working would be nice. Also, I haven't noticed any appreciable reduction of the electric bill. In all fairness, they did tell me, before they installed it, that just the one vent won't make much difference on a house this size and configuration. I have subsequently had another solar fan installed per their recommendation. The jury is still out as to electric bill savings.

The guy did what we said needed to be done at that time. They offered the annual service, but since we paid him he said that there was no reason for us to go with the annual service which was consistent with my calculation. He said that it would be cheaper for us to just call for the service in the winter. The annual service has also got gas and we don't have gas. I really can't compare them with other companies as they are the only ones that we've used for our air conditioning. It isn't hard to get them to come out. They come out and do what they say they are going to do. We did have them install a high efficiency unit and it took a part of the day to get that in, but they did a good job. We got the tax reduction as well and they ensured that they got the paper work done. They are good, but we haven't tried anybody else and I'm not really qualified to say that they do an excellent job. They just seem like they are good at what they do."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/waco/lochridge-priest-inc-reviews-5292842.htm"},"position":4},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Comfort-Air Engineering & Primo Plumbing, Inc.","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"TX","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"SALLY K."},"reviewBody":"I bought a service agreement with them. Not only was I not a member of Angie's List, but paid one month's subscription plus activation fee solely to post this review after overhearing them talking about having just joined the list. Matt Kinney electric was recommended to me as a good electrician, I called him out and his bid was $700 less expensive that the other bidder a well known local company and I am extremely pleased with his work. He and Mike Burgess not only totally exceeded my expectations for the work but did not charge me for looking over their shoulder or for all the silly questions. I cut in a few of the step lights one night on my own as I just got bored and wanted to see what they would look like. Nothing major just a little on the side, the next day he inspected my work, made a couple of recommendations for the next time then reduced the quote by the amount I had done. I told him that was not why I had done it and I did not expect a reduction, his reply was \"I don't charge for work I don't do.\" Now I'm here to tell you people just don't do that, but, he did. As long as he is in business I will never use another electrician for anything done at my home."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/temple/matt-kinney-electric-reviews-6125990.htm"},"position":6}]}

It went great. This was not a cookie-cutter job. It required detective work, selective demolition, knowledge of outdated systems and new codes, and hard work. My technician, David, was excited to do the work and worked diligently to complete it. He was able to overcome several obstacles that...

Ron Bickel Construction came out twice to quote on the job- first to bid on a more extensive remodel (including garage door/opener, replacing lattice with siding etc.) and then, later, for a downsized project to accommodate our changing budget for the project. The price quoted was fair-...

"While being a first time home buyer I could not have been more pleased with Darren's service. He documented everything that could be found and explained to us how it should be and suggestions, not as an expert as to what it should look like. We received our report in record time and it was very thorough. Our real estate agent was very impressed and wants contact info to add to her list of inspectors to clients to use in the future. We are purchasing a new inventory home (ie. prebuilt) and our builder basically said "give us the report and we'll fix it." Having the report as backup is gold. I will be certain to use Darren again when our 1 year builder's warranty runs out."

FAQs for radon detection and reduction projects in Salado, TX
If radon is present in your home, you can expect to pay around $1,000 for a radon mitigation system or between $780 and $1,250 in most cases. The exact price will depend on the severity of the radon leak, home size, and the protocol the radon specialist develops to remove radon from your home and keep it out. Your foundation type will also affect your radon mitigation system cost, as unfinished basements will cost about $4,600 to seal and ventilate, while crawl spaces without a foundation slab may need extra encapsulation, costing $1,500 to $15,000.
You can buy DIY radon test kits from a home improvement store and conduct radon testing, but these tests are often inaccurate. No matter the result, you should supplement DIY testing with professional radon detection and analysis. DIYers only have access to passive radon tests, which aren’t as reliable as active tests that professionals use. Plus, it’s very easy for DIYers to make mistakes during testing, leading to inaccurate results. If you’re moving into a new home, have concerns about radon, or are due for an updated test, hire a professional.
Radon testing costs depend on whether you hire a professional radon inspector or DIY test. You can expect to pay $150 to $800 to hire a local radon inspector, and home-testing kits range in price from $15 to $250 from home improvement stores. However, it’s best to trust a professional inspector with this task to ensure accurate results. Plus, if you have radon in your home, your testing company can develop a mitigation protocol to keep you and your family safe from the dangerous gas, so it’s well worth the money to hire a professional.
Yes, radon testing is absolutely necessary if you suspect the presence of this hazardous gas, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends testing for all homes in the country. Radon is a pervasive natural gas that can leak through your home’s foundation and seep into the living areas. Unfortunately, the gas is highly carcinogenic and is the second leading cause of lung cancer. Radon testing is crucial for keeping you and your family safe from harm, so hire a radon mitigation specialist to test your home if you suspect its presence in your home.
In most states, radon testing companies don’t need to be licensed or certified by the state, but the companies that analyze the test results and develop radon mitigation protocols do. You should choose a radon testing company that suits your needs, but before hiring a mitigation specialist, check our state licensing tool to make sure the company is properly certified.
