Our home is in the country, and so no municipal building inspectors were involved. Once the work started, his people didn't show up until late in the morning and were gone by mid-afternoon. All of the existing sheetrock was supposed to be removed and replaced with mold resistant sheetrock, but this was never done. After two days of work I brought in a friend and expert in tile work in order to get a second opinion on things that didn't seem right. He pointed out that the contractor had installed the cement backer board improperly around the tub, which could lead to severe water damage in the future. Further, the tub itself was not leveled properly, and the new fixtures were installed off center. When I pointed this out to James, he got angry and defensive towards my friend. A heated argument ensued where James claimed that he wasn't finished and that the large gap between the wall and tub was just fine. After several minutes of James showing his ineptitude, he finally left with the understanding that his people would be there shortly to fix the problems and finish the job. I then left for work and a short time later got a call from my wife telling me that James' people had picked up there tools and walked off the job. He refuses to comply with his own contract and finish the work. Further, upon doing more research, which I should have done before signing a contract, I found out that James McDonald and J & S Home Improvements are not licensed in the state of Texas, despite his claim that they are. According to the Secretary of State website, their company does not exist. He claims to have pulled permits on every job he has ever done, yet a search of the Abilene building permit database shows that he has never pulled a single one. Stay far far away from these people. They are liars and cheats. Plumber came back and we decided that quite possibly the stuff removed had clumped around the grass and the roots from several small mesquite trees in the area, so he cut the line in a different place and the problem was solved. This is the most recent time. He's licensed, BTW, as a master plumber. He worked with one assistant, but I have seen him come to eliminate a sewer blockage with no assistant and with his wife and children with him. On the present occasion, he arrived promptly in the morning as scheduled and finished by the afternoon. A couple of times after he had worked for a couple of hours, he asked if it would be all right for him to go do minor urgent repairs for other customers; I said, " Sure," and he soon returned to continue the next leg of the work he was doing for me. (One thing I've liked about Sims is that whenever I have called him he has always called me back soon and has sometimes come within an hour to deal with an inconvenient plumbing problem. I was glad to see that he responds to other customers in the same manner.) Because of the old plumbing he was dealing with, the work took longer than the hours he had originally estimated, so he proposed (and I accepted) that we split the difference on the labor hours that exceeded the estimate. I thought that was eminently fair; I was willing to pay the full price of the labor, but this just shows how consumer-oriented he is.
I saw another example of that consumer-friendly mind set on a previous service call in 2009 at another house, where I had removed a toilet and found the lead drain in the concrete floor had been misaligned when it was constructed, so the lead drain had to be reconstructed and the deep brass floor flange had to be reattached. He responded , with his assistant, in less than an hour, even though it was already after 5 p.m. He repaired the lead drain, provided a new flange and offered suggestions in how to repair the surrounding concrete and what type of tech screws to use to anchor it solidly (he also gave me some), and he also gave me a couple plastic "closet shims" or "toilet shims" to help in leveling the toilet. Parts and labor: $90."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/clyde/wayne-sims-plumbing-reviews-6454368.htm"},"position":8}]}

They worked quickly, did a professional job and cleaned up after themselves. My house was actually cleaner when they left. I've had a rust stain on my tile that I couldn't remove and they removed it and it wasn't even in the area of the house they were working on. They were polite and respectful.

FAQs for asbestos abatement projects in Potosi, TX
The cost for asbestos removal is between $1,200 and $3,200 for average homeowners. This cost could be as little as $450 or as high as $6,000, depending on the affected area's size, the location of the asbestos, and the type of asbestos you're dealing with.
For example, removing asbestos from attic insulation averages $11to $25 per square foot. However, removing asbestos from an HVAC unit is more expensive, at around $35 to $55 per square foot.
No, you should not remove asbestos from your home yourself. It is not worth risking your health, or the health of your family.
There are strict laws regarding the demolition, encapsulation, and removal of asbestos. Not only could you face potential violations, but you could be putting yourself and others at risk. If you don't have the proper asbestos removal gear, you could inhale the asbestos fibers, which could lead to lung cancer or mesothelioma.
Since DIY asbestos removal isn’t the best option to save money, there are other steps that you can take to help cut costs when dealing with this project. After speaking with your asbestos removal expert, discuss if encapsulation is an option. If it is, you can save between 15% to 25% on overall project costs over demolition and disposal. In addition, when speaking with your professional, discuss if there are any tax credits available for your removal project. Finally, check with your homeowner’s insurance to see if any removal costs might be covered. However, be aware that this is usually only applicable if the asbestos is due to a covered incident, like a tree falling into your roof.
It can be scary to need asbestos removal from your home—you might be concerned about your family’s health, the overall condition of your house, and what repairs might need to be done. You can ask your asbestos consultant some questions to ensure your project is completed as safely as possible. Some questions to ask include:
Do you have the proper credentials for removing and disposing of asbestos?
How long will this project take to complete?
Have you worked on a project like this before?
Do you use new protective gear at each job site?
How do you prevent asbestos fibers from being released into the home?
How big is the crew you will send?
How do you clean up after a project?
The most common sign of asbestos is the age of your home. Asbestos was banned in drywall in 1977, though many products still contained asbestos until the 1980s. Indicators of possible asbestos in your home include:
Your home's age, if built before 1980
You have a home with vinyl flooring or millboard that was installed between 1952 and 1982
Your home has corrugated roofing
Your home has walls made from cement sheets
Your home has vermiculite insulation
