"The safety of my family is important to me, so when we needed new locks for our home, we wanted to make sure we chose someone trustworthy & with great expertise with the job of installing locks that would protect our family. After seeing the Airborne Locksmith on the news for helping the government to enter and the secure an important building, I knew I could trust this company. So I looked up the number and called them. I was not disappointed. Kevin, from Airborne Locksmith was quick to respond and did a fantastic job. He was very kind, professional and informative! He answered all of our questions and was really prompt and thorough. I'm impressed! I would highly recommend this company to anyone who is in need of new locks or any locksmith services!"

"I called Alarm Protection Group AFTER my office was burglarized. Now I feel SAFE. William is great to work with. He's neat and tidy, prompt, presentable - not a butt-crack type of guy, and he doesn't leave a mess in his wake. He's also knowledgeable about the equipment and only uses high-quality products."

"Blake did a fantastic job. He made room for me in his schedule so that I could get my apartment dialed in quickly. He turned up at on time. He was particular about checking in with me as to the placement of art before hanging it. I have a couple of tryptics and some very large pieces that required a lot of measuring to be placed correctly. Blake is a walking advertisement for the idiom "measure twice, cut once". I have an uploaded a photo of part of the install. For the quality work that he did, his prices were very reasonable. I would recommend Blake unreservedly."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Door locks should be changed roughly every seven years. The average lifespan of a door lock is seven to 10 years, so it’s best to err on the side of caution and change them early, especially if they are showing signs of wear and tear. Examples of deterioration include visible rust and difficulty opening or closing the door. Some locks can work safely beyond 10 years, but it depends on how often they are used and whether they are exposed to damaging environmental conditions like precipitation or extreme temperatures.

Yes, but adding a deadbolt to some door materials, like steel, may make installation a little bit trickier. For these materials, you will want to hire a locksmith to do the work for you, but be aware that they may charge an additional fee of $25 to $50 or more.

Yes, you should always change your locks after buying a house. Do so as soon as possible after you move in. Otherwise, you won’t know who has working keys to the property, whether they’re spare keys or otherwise. If an intruder gains access to your house with a key, it may not be covered under your homeowners insurance.

In general, keyless door locks are considered safe, and their security depends on the type and quality of the lock. They cannot be picked like a traditional lock and often include added features like biometric access, PIN codes, and smartphone connectivity, which can make them more secure. However, they are not without risks. Potential vulnerabilities include hacking for Wi-Fi-connected models, battery failure, power outages, and technical malfunctions. To maximize security, it is important to choose a reliable brand, stay on top of software updates, and perform regular maintenance. While the risks are different, keyless locks are not considered more dangerous than traditional locks.

Aside from the labor costs, several other factors can impact the cost of hiring a locksmith. If you can avoid services during off-hours, you can save on fees often charged for urgent requests. Consider additional factors such as:

  • Type of services required

  • Emergency call fees

  • Home and lock location

  • Number of locks to repair or install

  • Peak hours

  • Type of locks
