We are in our 4th decade of serving the Coastal Bend. Currently we employ 3 employees who design, build, and repair swimming pools and spas.

"Paver deck was not constructed properly and is literally falling apart. Loose pavers, sinking pavers, polymeric sand did not set between pavers, plaster on step and a few areas on the bottom of the pool is so thin that gunite is visible, travertine coping was not sealed, concrete edge is disintegrating. I have called, emailed, texted, and showed up in person with no response. Was given a time frame to complete repairs May 2021. Repairs have not been completed. Deck looks 10 years old and in I’ll repair but is only 6 months old. Very dissatisfied."

There are many factors to consider when building an in-ground concrete pool. This includes the pool’s primary purpose (relaxation or exercise) if you live in a warm or cold climate (how often it’ll be used), and if you have the budget for chemical treatments and pool maintenance. The safest pool fence depends on what you’re trying to protect against. If you’re concerned about children and pets, a fence with gaps between or under the material isn’t advisable, as they could get through it. Mesh fences tend to reach the height requirements needed for pool fence safety, although they are not the most durable. Solid fence types, such as wood, concrete, or stone have the best chance of protecting the surface area around a pool, so long as they are high enough to discourage anything, or anyone, from climbing over them. 

Depending on your budget, wants, and needs, a pool enclosure can be a worthwhile investment. It all comes down to how much you use your pool, and what it would mean to you to have year-round access to it.

If you know that you'll swim in your pool a lot, then having an enclosure means you don't have to worry about the weather. It's also a lot easier to maintain the water, because you don't have to deal with leaves falling into the pool, and the water's chemical levels tend to be more stable.

Small animals, particularly rats and mice, like to burrow inside pool heaters. To keep them out, seal any entry points with caulk or steel wool. Then, place mothballs inside or around your pool heater. As a final measure of protection, you can cover the pool heater in hardware cloth or wood paneling to further block entry points.

If you are installing a fiberglass pool, you may want to install or update your patio or deck at the same time to create a safe, comfortable place to sit and dry off or grab a bite to eat after swimming. You might also consider adding a hot tub to the mix, which costs $6,000 on average.
