"This went very well.  We found Holman's on Angies list and made an appointment for the next morning.  The crew showed up on time.  The broken flange problem turned up after we set up the appointment when we noticed water on the laundry room ceiling.   Although this was a new and larger problem they tackled it as well as the other two issues.  It required pulling the toilet, replacing the flange with a higher quality steel one and putting a board in  under the floor to  mount the flange more securely.   Even before they honored the Angies List coupon the price was very reasonable considering the time required to do the fix.  All the fixes were very satisfactory.    Would definitely call them again.

We are very happy with the outcome in our kitchen. We love granite countertops and cabinets. CJM helped selection process or directed us to suppliers for excellent support (and out come). The transformation opened up our kitchen and created a fresh look in our main floor

Toilets FAQs, answered by experts

After flushing the toilet, you should have about half a tank full of water. While the exact amount of water you’ll have will vary, you want to make sure you have enough to cover the bottom of the bowl and enough to sit above the P-trap drain. While low water in your toilet bowl can indicate a problem, too much water can also be cause for concern.

Putting caulk around a toilet’s base where it touches the flooring can help hold the toilet in place. A more effective way is using caulk with plastic shim wedges. Place the shims underneath the base to steady and stabilize the toilet. Add some caulk to help keep the shims in place and provide a stronger and more lasting stabilization effect.

To keep your toilet in good working order, replace the toilet fill valve every five years. Toilets get quite a workout, so while toilet maintenance may not be on top of your to-do list, it’s essential to keep up with it to ensure your toilet is in good working order and ready when needed.

A standard toilet flange should fit snugly into the outflow pipe and sit level with the subfloor. Installing a new one without first removing the old one will make it impossible to form a seal and keep the toilet bowl bolted securely in place.

However, if you’re dealing with leakage or wobbling because you’ve installed a new type of bathroom tile (making the floor taller), you may be able to avoid fully replacing the flange by opting for a toilet flange extender. Extenders typically come in kits for easy DIY installation, fit over the existing flange, and bring the drain connection higher.

Yes, a toilet, sink, and shower can share the same vent. This is a common plumbing practice that can simplify installation and save space. When sharing a vent, it's important that the toilet is located downstream from all other fixtures. You will also need to ensure the vent pipe is large enough to handle the demands of all connected fixtures without compromising its effectiveness. Because requirements can vary, you should always check your local building and plumbing codes. Consulting a qualified plumber is recommended to ensure the vent is properly sized, installed, and adheres to all local regulations.
