"UGLY DUCKLING INTO A BEAUTIFUL SWAN If I could give TEN stars i would. Highly experienced in what Kirk Morgan and his crew does. Meticulously detailed expertise on details even offering ways to be better than I expected to be. Patiently explaining many options with pro and con. Worked Monday through Friday all day long. Consistently showed up. Corrected what the previous two contractors had messed up to bring to high quality look and structural integrity. I have recommended to people needing work done or house built and will continue to recommend to anyone I can. Wellllllll worth the money I spent. "This company is AMAZING! We had to fix up the walls in the house that we were moving out of. They came, fixed all the nail, tack and mount holes and even did touch up paint where my kids had colored on the walls. They actually blew us away with how well they did. You can't even tell where the holes were or what was repainted. The crew was respectful and listened to every detail of what I needed done. They went above and beyond what we expected. Thanks guys! We will be looking into hiring again next time we move!"

"I couldn?t be happier with the painting work! The painter was professional, punctual, and paid great attention to detail. The finish is clean, smooth, and exactly what I was hoping for. They took the time to prep everything properly and left the area spotless when the job was done. The quality of work really stands out, and the price was fair for such excellent results. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for top-notch painting services."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Apply a wood stain or sealant to properly maintain a wood deck railing and keep it looking new. Sealants protect wood from moisture and weathering. Regularly inspect the railing for loose screws, damaged balusters, and other signs of wear to make timely repairs. Routinely clean the railing using mild soap, water, and a soft bristle brush.

Staining or sealing a cedar deck or fence is highly recommended to extend its lifespan and protect it from the elements. While cedar is naturally resistant to mold and mildew, it is not impervious to damage from moisture, sun exposure, splintering, fading, and rot over time. Applying a protective finish creates a shield that preserves the wood's strength and appearance, potentially extending its life by five to 10 years.

When choosing a finish, it's helpful to understand the difference between a sealer and a stain. A sealer sits on top of the wood, whereas a combination stain and sealer soaks into the top layer. Because it penetrates the wood, a stain generally offers better protection against UV damage and rot and lasts significantly longer. For the best results that also preserve the wood's natural color, consider using a near-translucent stain.

To maintain protection, plan on reapplying the stain or sealer every two to three years, either as a DIY project or by hiring a professional.

You’ll want to avoid excessively hot or humid conditions, so it’s best to apply your stain in late spring to early fall. It's also important to watch the weather forecast and aim for days when there isn’t rain expected for at least three days. For new decks, allow the wood to season beforehand for at least four to eight weeks.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood, as this helps prevent the surface from cracking. However, it is crucial to wait for the wood to dry out completely from the chemical treatment process before applying a finish. If the wood is still wet, the paint will not adhere properly. The drying time can range from weeks to six months. To test if the wood is ready, drip some water onto a board. If the water is absorbed, the wood is dry enough for painting or staining. If the water beads up on the surface, it needs more time to dry. You can build with the wood while it's still wet, but you must wait for it to dry before painting.

Always wait until the morning dew has dried before you stain your deck. The stain needs a fully dry surface to sink into.
