"It's been a year since we had 360 THERMAL come out to Pearland and install Open Cell insulation in our walls, garage and attic. They came out while the home was being built. One time, Finished in one day to help with construction deadlines. They had two trucks out and knocked it out. For a 2600 sqft home my highest bill was one month $130, but I'm averaging about $80 a month electricity wise even a year out. The Owner of the company helped us pick out the best A/C system that would meet our budget and work well with the insulation. Thank you again 360 Thermal!"

"The main man Rex is great, he knows his stuff and answered all my questions about the spray insulation. Very efficient in their work and a reasonable price. They have the latest equipment, so you don’t have to worry about break downs and excuses! I’ll be using them from here on out, every house/metal building I do."

"All of the work was done as described and in a timely manner. Alvaro (president) explained the process and answered any questions we had. The crew was punctual, courteous and respectful of the property. Windows, doors and vigas were taped off, drop cloths were used where material would splatter. After the completion of the project everything was cleaned up and put back in place. The workmanship is outstanding and the house looks brand new."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

DIY installation is not recommended, as professionals ensure even distribution, proper sealing, and compliance with building codes.

The average cost to install insulation is around $1,800, but you could pay anywhere between $500 and $4,500, depending on various factors. Some of the things that have a significant influence on your pricing include the following:

  • Size of the area

  • Type and R-value of the insulation

  • Whether your space is finished or unfinished

  • Accessibility of the area

  • Your geographical location

  • Amount of site preparation, especially for blown-in insulation

  • Whether or not you need old insulation removed

To keep cold out, look for treatments that sit close to the window frame and are made from thick, insulating materials. Thermal curtains, cellular shades, window quilts, and insulated shutters can all help retain heat. Layering window treatments, like pairing lined curtains with cellular shades, can provide even better insulation by further reducing drafts and heat transfer.

Insulation can be made of cellulose, fiberglass, polyurethane, polystyrene, or mineral wool. Radiant barriers are often made of aluminum or other similarly reflective materials, but they will need to be paired with something else because they don’t provide heating benefits. Cellulose is among the most eco-friendly options and may be recycled when it’s past its shelf-life, whereas polyurethane and polystyrene both emit harmful compounds and will need to be handled with care during installation.

Water freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit, but the actual temperature that can cause frozen pipes can vary. Generally, it takes 12 hours for pipes to freeze at 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

Uninsulated pipes can freeze if it’s 20 degrees Fahrenheit or colder for over three hours. If your pipes are insulated, it can take six hours or longer for pipes to freeze. Note that some pipe types freeze more often than PEX pipes. Copper pipes freeze more often because the copper conducts energy and loses heat quickly.
