The first indicators were the price (compared to others), knowledge and experience (easily determined through conversation), the detailed discussion of the jobs at hand and his willingness to coordinate with my wants and desires. The first job was simply replacing my driveway and the second job was replacing my back patio, both within the same time period. We discussed the potential for delays due to rain.
