"I was having a problem with bats in my back patio. Sal came by and made the initial estimate. He was able to determine the area where these critters were coming from. I immediately hired Pest Control Pro and have had no regrets. Sal set up bat traps and came by every other day to clean up the captured bats. The next step is to do the repellent and then seal up the crevice where the bats were living. Sal did a Great job, he really knows his stuff. I highly recommend Pest Control Pro!!!"

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

Pest control measures for bird and bat issues typically last from several weeks to months, depending on the effectiveness of the implemented solutions and the return of conducive conditions.

If you’ve had a prior bat infestation or simply want to avoid having bats invade your home in the first place, there are a few steps you can take without the need for a pro.

  • Seal entry points, such as where your chimney meets your house, or other gaps or holes exist.

  • Use bat deterrents like bright lights or ultrasonic devices to force them away from your home.

  • Reduce bat attractions like standing water and bird nectar feeders inviting bats into your yard.

Trees that provide a habitat to bats and an abundance of bugs—their main food source—will attract bats to your yard. Because the North American landscape has changed so much in recent years, bats have a harder time finding trees with cavities to shelter in. If your yard has a dead or dying tree with a lot of sun exposure, bats will likely be drawn to it because trees with those features are less common.

DIY animal removal is rarely a good idea and is not advised for many reasons. First, these types of animals can carry diseases and, therefore, pose a health risk to you, your family, and your pets if mishandled. Second, depending on your city or municipality, it may be illegal to remove or handle wildlife yourself.

Sealing your home against these animals yourself is also a bad idea. Trapping an animal under your house will cause odor and insect problems when it passes away.

Small amounts of geese are actually good for the environment. They help spread seeds and lead to more plant growth, but they’re often an invasive species, particularly Canadian geese. This means a small gaggle can quickly grow into a level that litters your lawn with bald patches and excrement.
