"Terminix was quick to respond and to get out here for a termite inspection, which is what we needed. However, they signed us up for pest control and said their agent would be out to care for us right away. So far haven’t seen him yet. Will give 5 stars if that turns out well."

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

Termites are generally more destructive than carpenter ants, which is why it’s important to get rid of termites as quickly as possible. Termites will swarm your home to relentlessly feast on its wood frame, sheetrock, insulation, and carpet down to the studs.

While carpenter ants work surprisingly efficiently, they can still take years to damage your home significantly. It can also take termites several years to fully compromise a home's structure. However, the right colony can take down a full house in about a year. Overall, termites are far more diligent when it comes to destroying structures.

Yes, you can get rid of wolves naturally using nonlethal deterrents, like motion-activated lighting or loud music. You can also get rid of wolves with the same methods that apply to keeping other wildlife away—strong and tall fencing, a guard dog, and a clean property free from potential food sources.

Yes, wolves are generally afraid of humans, as well as most large carnivores, such as bears. The risk of a wolf attacking a human or killing them is very low. Biologists hypothesize that this fear was instilled over centuries of humans hunting wolves and the fact that humans have an upright posture like bears that wolves are also afraid of. Like all wildlife, it’s best not to feed wolves and keep them at a distance from yourself and your home.

Ticks love to hide in long grass, mulch beds, leaf piles, and wooded areas, so minimizing these things in your yard can help stop them from making a home there. If you live in an area with lots of wildlife, it's also helpful to put up a fence so that deer and other animals don't bring ticks into your yard.

Yes, both hobo and wolf spiders resemble brown recluse spiders, both in habitat and physical appearance. However, these species lack the tell-tale violin-shaped markings under the head that classify a brown recluse. Both species also have shorter legs than the dreaded brown recluse.
