Matching new paint with an old, faded color can be tricky. First, you’ll need to determine whether the paint on your house is latex-based or oil-based. Some caulk alternatives, such as silicone putty and spray foam, can be painted over once they have cured. However, sealant tape and caulk strips cannot be painted. You can paint over wallpaper, but it’s not usually recommended, especially if the wallpaper underneath is textured or dirty.
