"It was inevitable that we would eventually have a frozen pipe during the winter cold snaps. Last February, our North wall finally got cold enough to freeze the spigot and water line to the washer. Even before that, we were tired of having cold kitchen cabinets and strong cold draughts coming from various exterior wall outlets and switches. Our house isnâ t that old but clearly the builders were either inefficient or just lazy in some of the original insulation. We contacted USA Insulation as they are one of the few companies nationwide that will do post-build wall insulation. Their sales team were responsive, easy to deal with and gave us a competitive quote for insulating both stories around the exterior. The insulation process was a little noisy, but the installation team was pretty efficient at the work and professional in their work. Even though the house was fairly large, they completed the work within just a few days. There were a couple of small follow up tasks, but they were diligent about completing the work. Even though we had the work done at the end of last yearâ s cold season, we were pleased to notice the benefit in the summer months as the AC units didnâ t need to work as hard to cool the house. "Communication started back in November 2011. Actual work was started in July 2012. Partly due to some requirements analyzing was the reason why work did not started until July 2012. Work was deemed completed per contract on my delivery of the last check on October 23 2013. Since completion, the breezeway served as a transversing room with storage on the sides. The main room it leads to is serving in capacity as a small workshop, mainly dealing with wood. The brightness of the lights was very adequate and so is the power delivery from the existing breaker. About a year has passed and I can feel confident I can continue to have the workshop still in service and use. Pictures that are attached showed accumulated additional work of my own accord - window treatments, painting, floor sealing, roof replacement due to hail, but the structure is most definitely sound so far. The lifetime structural warranty solidifies in my mind the soundness of the expanded structure. Jess continued to check on me even after the work has been done. I will soon have his referred HVAC specialist to analyze solutions for bringing in more cool air to the room (cool air was being delivered, but it was not enough for comfortable capacity alongside tool operation - in my opinion) He was very professional in all dealings and despite the slow start (mainly from my follow through), work was done in a relatively timely manner. Communication throughout was solid, accommodating slight changes along the way. Great contractor to work with. Jess knows who to deal with and provide a solution to my overall requirement: A insulated (and for the most part, climate controlled) room that gives expanded dedicated proper space to work in and a new home for all tools that once reside in a not so ideal two car garage.

You can skim coat plaster, but it’s better to repair the plaster itself. A skim coat is a thin coat of drywall joint compound spread over the surface of a wall. The result is a flat finish that looks pleasing, but part of the appeal of plaster is its imperfections and aesthetic. Skim coating is best when limited to drywall applications.
You should leave a gap between drywall sheets because they naturally expand and contract along with the building framing as temperature and humidity change. Most pro drywall installers leave a gap of about ⅛ inch between drywall sheets, allowing the sheets to expand, contract, and shift without cracking or becoming damaged. If you don’t leave enough gaps between slabs, the edges will press against each other when they expand, and the pressure can cause visible cracks.
According to the EPA, mold grows within 24 to 48 hours if left untreated after a water leak. So unless you notice the leak and stop it right away, you only have a day or so before mold is a real concern. If you don’t notice the leak, it can take about three weeks for the mold spores to become visible. Yes, it is possible to rewire a house without removing the drywall, but this doesn’t work in all homes.
