Additional contact name - Paul Kennedy. Additional DBAs - Southwest Air Duct Cleaning, Southwest Chimney, Southwest Chimney & Stoves, Southwest Chimney Sweeps Inc. Additional fax - (915) 591-6998.

"I hired this company to clean my fireplace and install a cap ($450) and clean the heating/cooling system ($1727). Due to my work schedule, I was unable to obtain an explanation of the work done when it was completed & trusted the workmanship of these people and paid over the phone before inspecting my home. Before these people arrived to my home, I had just painted the entire interior of my home: walls, ceilings, frames, doors, etc. Long story short, these people are dirty, sloppy, careless and straight up disrespectful of homes, time and money. I had scratches on my ceiling, molding, doors, walls and had my painter come back to fix their ineptitude. They offered to use my paint and come touch up what they wrecked which is a complete joke. The painter charged me $220; with much distress and difficulty, I was able to obtain $120 from these people to pay the painter. No, they did not pay the entire touch up cost. Seriously, these people are quick to charge big money claiming professionalism and super cheap when having to pay for repairs they cause. Lesson of the story: hire a bad handyman. You’ll get the same sloppy job buy at a smaller cost."

Chimney Sweep questions, answered by experts

Roof cleaning services provide a slew of benefits, the most significant of which is improved curb appeal. Roof cleaning can make a dirty and neglected roof look new again, potentially saving you from replacing your roof to improve its appearance. Roof cleaning will also remove algae and moss, the latter of which can eventually lead to roof leaks from trapped moisture and lifted shingles. In the long run, roof cleaning can prolong the useful life of your roof and prevent property damage, making it a great investment.

The best way to clean a roof without damaging it is to opt for soft washing, or better yet, leave it to a professional roof cleaner. Soft washing involves a biodegradable cleaning solution being sprayed on the roof and gently rinsed away after it dissolves built-up residue on your shingles.

Flat roofs are a solid option for people who want extra outdoor space. Flat roofs are very common in other parts of the world and only recently has the U.S. started to see the benefit in the increased space. Flat roofs are also easier to maintain and pose much less of a safety risk, which allows for more DIY work for handy homeowners. Some people also build green or living roofs that grow plant life.

If you wish to forego painting your shingles but still want to give them a fresh look, a deep cleaning is the first step. Clean off any debris from your roof and gutters, and then power wash your shingles to get grime and algae off. To take things one step further, you might even consider installing new gutters to give your home a bright new look.

Roof raking helps clear snowfall from your roof and, in turn, you hope that this prevents ice dams. But can roof raking actually cause them? Generally, no, it cannot. But you should note that while, in some cases, you might successfully prevent ice dams from forming near the edge of your roof by keeping it cleared with a roof rake, they could still form higher up on the roof, where you are unable to reach. This may leave you wondering: Does roof raking prevent ice dams? While it is not a 100% guaranteed way to prevent them, it does help.
