I hired this company to clean my fireplace and install a cap ($450) and clean the heating/cooling system ($1727). Due to my work schedule, I was unable to obtain an explanation of the work done when it was completed & trusted the workmanship of these people and paid over the phone before inspecting my home. Before these people arrived to my home, I had just painted the entire interior of my home: walls, ceilings, frames, doors, etc. Long story short, these people are dirty, sloppy, careless and straight up disrespectful of homes, time and money. I had scratches on my ceiling, molding, doors, walls and had my painter come back to fix their ineptitude. They offered to use my paint and come touch up what they wrecked which is a complete joke. The painter charged me $220; with much distress and difficulty, I was able to obtain $120 from these people to pay the painter. No, they did not pay the entire touch up cost. Seriously, these people are quick to charge big money claiming professionalism and super cheap when having to pay for repairs they cause. Lesson of the story: hire a bad handyman. You’ll get the same sloppy job buy at a smaller cost.

I called Southwest to get a quote for repair on my fireplace as my home inspector did not know what issues existed only that it was not safely operable until an inspection had been completed. They came out to complete a cleaning and provide me a quote for repair that was needed that they could visually see (this changed a bit as they began work and discovered additional damage but I was quickly made aware of the change and offered the option of additional repair). I had also been contemplating ceramic logs and wanted a remote controlled log system, they were able to assist with this as well. From the very first phone call to the completion of the interior system they were courteous, professional, punctual, and flexible. Great company and I would recommend them with no reservations and will use them for any future needs.

dryer vent cleaning - excellent. quick, effective. showed me pictures of what they did on the roof to the vent opening. dryer works now. they cleaned up the mess.

chimney sweep - excellent work. crew cleaned up afterwards. they cleaned the gas logs and inside the chimney of our new house. we haven't used it yet so i don't know how effective it is yet.

chimney cap - they came back another day to install a new chimney cap. This was super fast and they were on time.

quote for air duct cleaning - they walked my house, did quick measurements and vent counts and provided me with an outrageous quote to clean the ducts. This quote was 3 times another quote so I did not use them for this service.

My only complaint about this company is the communication with the office. The lady in the office gave me a quote and when I combined services there was a $10 discount which they did not apply when I paid for services, and the guys on the crew said I had to call the office about it. When I called to ask about this, she said that because i paid with credit card she couldn't refund those ten dollars. But she would give me a credit for the chimney cap and give me another $10 off just for the trouble. She didn't call me back when she said she would, and then she called back to find out if I was interested in the air duct cleaning quote, to which I said no, but you guys were supposed to come out to install a new chimney cap and I told her the quote she had given me. She said let me make a note of that, and then when they came out to install it, they STILL did not apply the discount. There's a problem with communicating with the client and the crew.

Also I think they were expensive. The work was quality but the communication and the promises for discounts were crappy.

On the day the technicians finished the job and left, I had to call the company and have someone return because one of my AC units was not working.  After investigating, the technician found that the cover panels for a heater had not been replaced properly, and a contact switch wasn't engaged.  A few days later, I found a puddle on the garage floor under that same heater.  A workman from a heating and cooling company discovered that a tube draining AC condensation had been left kinked, so the water flow leaked onto the floor instead of being carried outside.  Five months later, when I switched from AC to heating, I found the attic heater not working.  The heating and cooling technician investigated and found that wires had been pulled out (possibly from someone stepping on them or tripping over them -- that's just a guess).  Although the duct cleaning service provided by Southwest seems to have been thorough, the workmen were prompt, and no residual mess was left behind, I cannot overlook the fact that failure to attend to some details has made it necessary for me to deal with several additional return visits from an AC/heating company to get the AC/heater units back into functioning order.  Several aspects of the job by Southwest were handled in an excellent manner, but the failure to check details makes this performance only "average" overall.

They fixed a problem that my Roofer, and a Construction Company failed at. Chimney had a leak inside the fireplace that you could hear water dropping but no sign of water.  The others blamed it on wind driving rain into the chimney. SW Chimney  replaced the cap and in fact it was a design flaw in the Chimney by the builder. Due to design, water would build up on the top of the cap and remain there while seeping into the Chimney. With the replacement cap. it is impossible for water to collect on the cap.

They guarantee that when they finish no dust or dirt will blow out of the vents. I thought it was kind of a challenge, but they use a vacuum system that they hook up in a big vacuum truck and it's awesome.

They are a little higher than other people, but they got all the training and certificates.

Response from Southwest Chimney & Stoves & Air Duct Cleaning
"Thank You very much for your positive review. I really appreciate you business. We clean your cooler and furnace and all inside surfaces of your duct work, so we can guaranty our work. This type of cleaning requires that I must be a Texas licensed Refrigeration and Air Conditioning contractor, and all my employees are registered HVAC technicians. We are also fully insured as per state requirements. Most of the people, in El Paso, claiming to clean air ducts just vacuum behind the registers and don't touch the cooler or furnace or any of the duct they can't reach from the register openings. They are in and out in a couple of hours, while we were there all day. That's is why we are a little higher on our prices."

It was real nice.  That guy was good.  He did a nice job.  He was a real nice kid, very thorough and did everything.  He did an excellent job.  He told me what I had to do to fix it next time this happened.  The price wasn’t too bad; it was a fair price.

It turned out great. The mantel was really nice and I have not had an issue. They did the service probably a couple of weeks after I searched them on Angie's List. It was a really good deal. I was like, "Well, I am not sure," and then they ended up giving me all the information that I needed. They called me back on the time that they said that they would. They were really punctual and their customer service was great overall.

They arrived on time and got to work. It took a little detective work to find where the vent came out of the house. Apparently my house is a little oddly designed as far as that goes. Once it was located, the work was done quickly.

I went to the main store with rough measurements for my fireplace. I did my research on their web site ahead of time so I generally knew what I was looking for. The sales lady was very patient and accommodating working with my rough idea. Made good suggestions and worked with my schedule.

It took two days to do the complete job, as we were told it would at the initial consultation.  The men were extremely polite and professional.  The actual cleaning was noisy because of the generators used, however, the overall job was not dirty or messy.   The air conditioning is more efficient now, and the air seems to be cleaner.   We are very pleased with the outcome and highly recommend Southwest Chimney & Stoves & Air Duct Cleaning.

They were excellent. They were on time and everything. It was just perfect. That works really well. I called them and got an appointment two days later. They came and did everything very quickly. There is nothing I can say. It was exactly what I had hoped to get out of them, and I got out of them. Their pricing was very reasonable. I would recommend them to anybody else.

Our duct situation since the time they cleaned our air duct has been astronomically two days.  Literally, we can dust in two days and it looks like we haven't dusted for over a month.  We don't know it is due to them, but it did start since they came out.  We will never recommend them.  They did a quality job, but since then the dust has been rising.  I have a really bad asthma and allergies, so I got a new furnace & heating unit.  They advised us to get it clean because it was very dirty.  We literally have to clean all the time now.  They showed us the x-rays that it is cleaned.  They did the cleaning again to re-look at it.  They said we have a tiny hole in one of our air ducts, but nothing that would create the dust that we were getting.  It is not from the intake that was coming from the furnace because the furnace guy came again and it was sparkling clean as the day he put it in.  I kept telling them that the filter wasn't dirty.  It is like unknown of what's going on.  We would recommend others to do the duct cleaning during the winter because it would be very hot during the summer as they would have to turn off the a/c.  By the end, the owner got very rude.  They did a good job with the dryer vent.  The dryer hose was faulty and they were able to find the problem out before it could have caught a fire.  The workers were more helpful than the owner.
Response from Southwest Chimney & Stoves & Air Duct Cleaning
"We guarantee that when we finish cleaning an air duct system there will be no visible dirt in the system and no debris will blow out when we restart the systems, and we honor this for 30 days after we clean. During our cleaning we take the cooler apart and remove the blower which gives us access to the inside of the blower assembly and the riser. We power brushed all of the exposed metal surfaces and removed all loose rust from the system. We then used high volume compressed air to blow all the loosened debris down into the duct where it was removed from the system with our large power vacuums. At the completion of the cleaning, while the system was still under negative pressure, we turned on the evaporative cooler and furnace and made sure there was no dust or loose rust anywhere in the system. There was no visible dust or loose rust in the system and no dust was blowing into the house, when we finished the cleaning. Evaporative cooler systems pull in 100% outside supply air and blow wet cool air into the duct work. This will cause the cooler and the duct beneath it, to rust and get dirty, as it is used. The cooler riser and the duct were rusted at the start of the job, which is normal. All we can do is scrub the duct as thoroughly as possible. We cannot restore it to new condition. Mrs. Peterson used the cooler for over 3 months before she called about dust blowing out again. I went back out and inspected the duct systems and did find dust in the system, which is normal after using it all summer. I agreed to re-clean the air duct system again, even though it was well past our warranty period. We cleaned the system again and there was no rust or debris blowing out when we finished. There was nothing further that I could do."
