"It was all right; we didn’t really get anything worthwhile out of it.  She was pleasant to work with, it is just what she advertised versus what we got was way out.  There was nothing really robust about it.  She was polite and pleasant to talk to and what not but her work wasn’t that great. "

"When I bought this house, it was was filthy, smelled horrible from outside even, was rodent and roach-infested. Counters, floors were wet and rotting. Everything had to be torn out and rebuilt. Now my home is beautiful. The bathrooms are lovely. There were no short-cuts or rush jobs, or anything left unfinished. I’ve had neighbors and friends who are in building and construction admire and compliment the high quality of the work done on my home. Most people who come in comment on the beautiful flooring, or the cleanliness of the walls and ceilings. I live in a quiet, gated community and there was never a complaint about a mess outside or noise. Very clean."

"I wanted a handyman to build decks. Tommy tile setting was the only person who responded to my needs. He completed the job, but I find it strange that a plumber came to do the job then a person who works construction did not. Tommy should say tile setting and handyman services. We do all jobs that others wont bother with. Thanks to Tommy tile setting for building the decks I wanted."

"They had to postpone the start date by a week due to a serious illness in the family, but they called on Friday before they were to start on Monday leaving plenty of time for me to adjust my schedule.  They arrived promptly on the following Monday, explained to me how they would proceed and immediately got to work.  Through the week, they brought in a plumber and a sheetrock man, a total of four men on the job.  They didn't mind my constant looking in to see what they were doing.  Did small things that I asked.  All week, even in the late hours of a couple of the work days, everyone remained in good humor and had smiles on their faces.  At the end, when they cleaned up an awful lot of trash, it was like saying goodbye to good friends.  Excellent and very professional job.  And a good bargain for the reasonable cost.  All I have to do is paint and set a little bit of tile.

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

The reasons not to install flooring underneath a bathtub outweigh the benefits. A properly installed bathtub will keep water from reaching the unprotected subfloor underneath. Installing a tub on top of finished flooring can lead to damage and scratches to the new floor. Also, a small leak from a tub drain may be more difficult to notice if finished flooring impedes water drips.

Porcelain and ceramic tiles are made from clay, but porcelain tiles are fired in a kiln at a higher temperature. This makes them more durable, but it also means porcelain is more expensive than ceramic at $3 to $5 more per square foot.

Even with the higher price point, many people choose porcelain over ceramic because there are more color and design options.

To ensure an even and unbending surface to lay tiles on, you’ll typically need to put a subfloor under a tile floor. Fiber cement backboards are the most common choice, but using plywood is also possible. Don’t neglect this step, or you could risk water damage and grout or tiles prematurely cracking or crumbling, especially in an area with high foot traffic.

Grout and caulk are commonly used together, especially in bathrooms. Grout goes between the tiles and keeps them sturdy and in place on the walls or floor. Caulk goes in corners or where two different materials meet (like where the bathtub meets the tile) to create a waterproof seal. However, they are not interchangeable—you shouldn't use caulk to adhere tile and shouldn’t use mortar if you need a waterproof seal.

You have creative freedom when it comes to your tile trim. If, however, you are considering skipping tile trim, please think twice about that. It is good practice to install tile trim, whether on walls or flooring. Think, too, about the aesthetic you are going for and choose a trim type and color that will help enhance the space.
