I’ve been working on my own home for 4 years on and off remodeling both bathrooms and the kitchen from the floor joists to the ceiling! I have also done other similar projects in the past 10 years. I live in Levelland currently but I work in most of the surrounding cities including Lubbock, Littlefield, and Wolfforth. "Mr. Pena has been far more responsive that I've experienced with other contractors in Lubbock. His person installed the deck boards and there were a few that were less than ideal. I pointed them out and he agreed and fixed them within 24 hours. He is very responsive, always has ideas to improve the project and as a result it feels more like a partnership that a contractor relationship.As a result of his quality we've moved from a small job to over $15K of work."

"Pendant lights were installed perfectly. Electrician did an excellent job. Crown molding and fireplace mantel (custom built) look great. I had to do some minor touch ups using stain to cover wood filler and some corners, but overall, great job. Picture windows installed were completed in a  professional manner, no issues, looks great. I would definitely use Gill Construction again. Also, a special thanks to Micky Hutson, sales representative for Gill Construction. Micky was always available and responded well to any questions or concerns that I had during and after the construction process.

Yes, it is generally a very good idea to seal your deck after pressure washing. Power washing removes not only dirt and debris but also a thin layer of wood, leaving the surface exposed and more susceptible to weathering. Sealing is almost always needed after this process. After a general cleaning, sealing isn't automatically necessary if the existing sealant is still intact. You can test the surface by placing a few drops of water on it. If the water beads up, the sealant is working. If it soaks into the wood, it's time to apply a new sealant. Whether to paint or stain a deck depends on your personal preference for appearance and budget. Stain provides a natural look with a range of undertones, is typically less expensive, and may only require one coat, but it does not last as long as paint. Paint offers a sleeker finish with a virtually unlimited color palette. Both options will protect your deck from outdoor elements like rain, snow, and general wear and tear.

There’s no single paint that’s the most waterproof. Instead, there are several types of waterproof and water-resistant paints that suit different purposes. Epoxy paint, for instance, is commonly used to provide a waterproof coating to floors and decks. Masonry paint is an excellent choice for exterior walls. Meanwhile, there are waterproof acrylic paints that can be used for interior and exterior walls. It’s more about choosing the best type for what you’re painting instead of the most waterproof paint overall.

Painting a damaged pool deck is not recommended if the substrate is crumbling, cracking, spalling, or otherwise actively deteriorating. Continuing deterioration will result in the paint also delaminating or flaking off the damaged surface. Minor damage such as chips or hairline cracks that are not actively deteriorating can often be repaired enough to paint over. A damaged pool deck with a lot of cracking and deterioration should be replaced for best results.

Wood stain does go bad, but it will last in the can for between three and six years, provided you use proper storage techniques. Storing wood stain in open containers or in extremely low or high temperatures will cause your wood stain to become unusable much more quickly. Water- and latex-based wood stains typically last for just two to four years, while oil-based wood stains can last for three to six years.
