"Willie and his team did fantastic work. After contacting numerous other "foundation experts", Willie provided the best plan and backed it up with his overall knowledge and certification/training in basement/foundation repair. He and his team do great work and take no short-cuts when it comes to the overall quality of the work. He also was very flexible when other requests were made and he gladly accommodated. He has a passion for his business, customers and takes great pride in his work. The basement and porch are now fixed and look great. Best of all is that we have confidence the work performed will last."

"We needed to have the subflooring replaced in two bathrooms in a manufactured home. We decided to have several fixtures replaced at the same time ("We need to put stuff back; cost is the same if we use old stuff or new..") - toilets, vanities, new shower, remove old and inoperative tubs. Things went quite sideways when we found the flooring under the old water heater was bad and found the water heater needed replacing - the crew waited until the plumbing people came out and talked to them about what was needed. Fans needed to be left for several days to dry things out. New subflooring put in; we provided new vinyl flooring, fixtures, and vanities, which they installed. Everything came out PERFECT!! David bid on a week-and-a-half job; turned into almost 3 weeks - except for some additional items needed to finish up some plumbing, he didn't up the cost. We have a contractor that we will call when other projects need to be done. If I could give ten stars out of five, I would!!"

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Framing a house with steel generally takes less time—around five to eight weeks—than most building materials. The steel components can also be made quickly off-site and manufactured with pre-punched holes for running piping and electrical wiring, which will lessen the prep work and extra labor during construction.

Most load-bearing walls are exterior, though they can also be interior.

The primary parts of a house that need framing during construction are floors, exterior walls, interior walls, and the roof. The framing in these areas provides the skeleton for adding other materials over the top. With walls, for example, contractors can hang drywall over the interior walls and siding over the outside of the exterior walls. Proper framing ensures a sturdy house that is built to last.

Carpenters are trained to take on a wide range of home projects. You can hire a carpenter to do framing, roofing, build custom furniture, and make significant upgrades to your home. General carpenters are usually able to handle most jobs. However, you may also choose to hire a carpenter who specializes in a specific type of carpentry.

The cost to convert a carport into a garage averages about $22,000, ranging from about $15,000 and $55,000. Additional cost factors to consider include size, time of year, and how much of the carport you can reuse. Other cost factors include the kinds and amounts of materials used, such as:

  • Add insulation: $1 per square foot

  • Add drywall: $1–$3 per square foot

  • Add window: $450–$2,000 per window

  • Add outlets: $75–$500

  • Add garage door: $250–$11,200

  • Enclose framing: $5–$13 per square foot

  • Replace roofing: $1,000–$2,000
