"I wanted to have a couple of bookcases made and in my online search I discovered Urban Legend Woodworking. I reached out to them and received a prompt response from McKenzie. We worked out the details online and he went to work in short order. He went out of his way to show up earlier than we had planned today, just to accommodate my schedule. The bookcases were perfect. He did an outstanding job on the craftsmanship and the installation. I couldn’t be more pleased with the whole process. The next time I have any carpentry needs, McKenzie at Urban Legend Woodworking will be my first choice to do the job."

"EMJ (Ruben) were very professional, always on time with great attitudes, and always smiling. The work was superb they worked with me until I was completely happy. I love my new bathroom! We have had them back for a few other odd jobs fixing the crown molding for one. Will have them back for anything else we decide to do here in our home. Love their work and their work ethics. Give them a call you will not be disappointed. Donna Mahan"

"We noticed the online reviews on Jimmy Bonier and decided to give him a try for our kitchen remodeling project. My first question was "Who is this man with nothing but 5-star reviews...I want to meet him." We are incredibly happy we did. He not only did our kitchen cabinet re-surfacing project for 30% less than a big box store wanted to charge but also gave my wife and I his expert advice on how to improve our kitchen. We were seeking to have our cabinet doors and drawers replaced with the "Shaker" design. Specifically, he recommended we have larger crown moldings added to the cabinets, enlarge the cabinet above the refrigerator to improve functionality and looks, add soft touch doors, and replace our pantry door (closet door) with a custom designed "Shaker" pantry door that shuts with a magnet. Ingenious! All our handles were replaced with satin nickel beautiful handles with a modern sleek look. He enlarged our oven cabinet to custom-fit the new oven-over-oven convection double oven that was hooked up by a polite, respectful, dependable electrician that Jimmy recommended. Oh yes, he also custom built a pull-out trash and recycling drawer into the kitchen cabinets to conceal them. We saw that our friend in Arizona had this feature and my wife wanted to have it built. Jimmy said no problem and it is sharp-looking. He painted it a beautiful color that we chose and are incredibly pleased with the entire project that took only 3 working days over a 6-day period, to allow time for primer and paint to completely dry. Jimmy is a highly skilled expert in his trade, and we will keep his number for any future needs or questions. I hope this helps you to decide on who you hire for your project. Raul"

Closets questions, answered by experts

Yes, 12-inch shelves are often considered the standard closet shelf depth for storing folded clothing, shoes, and small containers. However, if you plan to store bulky items such as blankets, baskets, or cleaning supplies, you may want to go deeper. For specialized layouts, an adjustable system can give you more flexibility.

Some features and upgrades you can add (some of which increase the closet’s value) are: modular shelving, motion-activated lighting, climate control, custom lighting, cigar humidors, revolving shoe racks, jewelry shelves, custom woodwork, and built-in laundry hampers. While only truly luxury closets have all of these, many custom closets have at least one special feature listed above.

Most packing services take 4-12 hours, while unpacking may take 1-2 days, depending on volume.

A "reach-in pantry" is a smaller, cabinet-style pantry that allows you to grab items by simply reaching inside. On the other hand, a "walk-in pantry" is like a closet or small room that offers a larger space that you can physically enter to get your food. Walk-in pantries allow for more customizable shelving. A reach-in pantry is usually around 5 feet wide by 2 feet deep, while a walk-in pantry is closer to 5 feet by 5 feet or larger.

Fortunately, there are no hard and fast rules or regulations regarding the height of closet shelving. However, the typical height for a single closet shelf with a hanging bar is 70 inches from the floor. For a double-hanging system, use 84 to 85 inches from the floor for the top one and 42 inches for the lower.
