Small jobs welcome

"Duey's Plumbing had been recommended by area residents, family and Realtors. I called Duey's. The company quickly sent out a serviceman. He called me an hour after starting the job. He'd dug up the wet area and discovered that there was an underground back-flow device that had failed, via corrosion, and was leaking water into the soil. He told me that the current code required a vacuum break device above ground to insure that no contaminants from the irrigation system were allowed to flow back into the house/city water supply. He also told me how much that would cost for the parts and the labor hours (2 more hours). We also talked about the best place to put that device. I wanted it installed out of sight around the corner of the house, but he insisted it be installed in the front of the house, near the area of the leak; less distance to trench I suppose. I came out later and found the job had been done and the area filled back in. Isn't Caliche an amazing substance? (calcium carbonate) This tar-baby like substance is very difficult to work with when wet (It sticks to you and your tools, worse, it accumulates until you have a very large and heavy mass weighing you and your tools down.) and emulates all of the attributes of concrete when dry. I thought that i had regular top soil..... I suppose that over the last 36 years that the calcium carbonate of the subsurface caliche has percolated up into the original top soil and thus incorporated it into the rest of the stuff below ground....yes, this entire area sits atop an old reef structure. No chance of removing the stuff, its' everywhere.

My hat is off to the technician from Duey's that did this job. He arrived at the job site and got right to work digging up that wet spot of caliche soil in 100+ Degree temperature with Texas Humidity. He got the job done with a very high degree of quality in three hours. The bill arrived the next week and was exactly what had been agreed upon. What more can you ask for; Integrity, professionalism, communication and timeliness, great work ethics, and great ethics! That is exactly what I'd been told to expect! I was not disappointed. Thank you very, very much."

"Mr. Longo was very quick to respond to my request for help. A sprinkler pipe had been broken by a tree root. He demonstrated expert knowledge in locating and repairing the broken pipe. The cost for his service call was moderate. I particularly appreciated his kindness and professional manner. I will employ his services again."

"This is our second time using Pro Irrigation.  Things went so well the first time that we will continue to use them.  We are out of state landlords and went to Angies List to get this contractor.  They contacted our renters and scheduled the time to fix the problem when it was convenient for our renters. The next day we got notice from Rodney that it had been fixed.  Easy and effortless,  leaving us as landlords very happy and our tenants as well.  Highly Recommend this company.  They fixed a broken pipe and adjusted some of our sprinkler heads.

"They were there in a timely manner on the day they said they would come. Determined water heater needed to be replaced. Went and got the water heater and installed it. It took a total of about three hours. The price was a little high. $1200 total for water heater and service. He said it was flat fee when I questioned him on this cost. When he talked to me on the phone he quoted $125 an hour. This did not equate to $1200 with the water heater."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, chemical drain cleaners contain sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, both of which are not only dangerous to your health but also extremely caustic. Drain cleaners will corrode your pipes and could lead to destroyed drain lines, especially if the chemicals interact with the piping for long periods. Unfortunately, this extended interaction is likely if you’re dealing with a clog, as the drain cleaner will have just as much trouble as water does moving through your plumbing system.

Most blockages can be cleared in 1-3 hours, but severe issues may take longer.

To get rid of a sewer smell in your crawl space, you’ll have to find the source of the problem. If it has to do with your sewer lines, then repairing the line will help. You may need to make other repairs, like fixing your sump pump or encapsulating your crawl space to reduce moisture. After you make the repair, depending on the issue, you may still need to clean out your crawl space to get rid of the stink.

The cost to repair a main sewer line clog is about $3,110 on average. The average cost range is  $1,310 to $4,950, but it can go as low as $215 and as high as $9,300 or more. The cost factors for this repair include the severity of the clog, pipe accessibility, video inspection, removal method, permits, pipe material, labor rates in your area, and time of year. Repairs made from outside during the winter can be more difficult due to the frozen ground or during the spring if the ground is saturated from a lot of rain and snow melt.

Yes, you can pour water down the toilet to help it flush. For each flush, you’ll need 1 to 2 gallons of water for newer toilets or 3 to 5 gallons of water for older toilets. Rather than dumping the entire bucket in all at once, pour the water in slowly for the best results. If you’re pouring water down the toilet to help it flush after a clog, only use 1 gallon of hot water.
