Small jobs welcome

"Hired Lance to construct a retaining wall, three week into the project we have seen issues with getting the necessary permits from the city due to the fact that the city has changed the permit requirements. Lance worked through that problem and received the permits. Looking forward to breaking ground and correcting the erosion on the property"

"The outside job was fixing cracks ands chips in brick wall. I was very satisfied with the result. The inside job was to install vinal plank flooring in the kitchen, dining area, living room, hallway and 2 bathrooms. It is beautiful! Looks like real wood. I am very impressed with his attention to detail. Probably could have been a brain surgeon. He made sure that the ends of the plank flooring went under the walls."

"Although, from the beginning, the project seemed to be very good but upon closer inspection there were several things that needed to be done/ redone or completed. Some things I had to do in the aftermath. -clearing of brush was incomplete to the point that I had to complete. -removal of landscape bricks were removed and not put back as before. -several pieces construction materials were left in the yard which I had to dispose. -part of the fencing was constructed to high which allowed the neighbors dogs to enter. -security camera was removed with mounting hardware thrown away with the old fence and camera found on the ground. -phone calls about the issues were never returned (poor customer service)."

Retaining Wall Installers questions, answered by experts

Yes, to build a retaining wall, a permit is required. Similarly, any repairs or modifications to an existing retaining wall require permits. If the planned wall measures higher than 4 feet, most municipalities require designs and permits come through a licensed engineer. In some locations, if the wall is shorter than 4 feet, a permit may not be required. For the requirements in your area, contact your local government.

To maintain the integrity of your landscape, a retaining wall must be installed if the slope of the angle exceeds 35 degrees. The lean of the wall must be 1 inch per 12 inches in height to disperse the weight of the soil uniformly and guarantee the correct drainage of the soil.

Failure to compact the soil during construction is the most common cause of leaning retaining walls. In addition, poor drainage can lead to excessive water pressure behind a retaining wall, pushing against it until it begins to move forward away from the soil it is holding back.

Proper design and construction prevent erosion and add structural stability to landscapes.

The longevity of flood walls depends on how they were constructed, but most wood, gravel, and cement flood walls last 10 years. While aluminum flood walls may cost far more initially, they can be a good investment as they can last decades and will not be damaged by exposure to the elements.
