Kitchen Remodels: Often called the heart of the home, kitchen remodels are super popular. This can be anything from simple updates like painting cabinets and replacing hardware to a full gut renovation. Popular kitchen updates include installing new countertops (quartz is a big one right now), adding a kitchen island for more prep space and seating, and upgrading appliances. \n• Bathroom Remodels: Bathroom renovations are another common project that can have a big impact. These can range from cosmetic changes like a new vanity and fixtures to a full overhaul that includes re-tiling the shower, installing a new tub, and updating the flooring. \n• Adding Living Space: If you're feeling cramped, there are a few ways to add more living area. A home addition can create a new bedroom, a larger living room, or a home office. Another option is to finish an existing space like a basement or attic. Garage conversions are also becoming more common.

"Working with Jason was a great experience. I wanted a kitchen that was made for cooking as well as hanging out with the cook. One wall needed to come down and the 80's style drop down ceiling had to go. A complete gut was the only way to go.
I went to the super expensive interior design studios and took some pictures of things I liked. Jason was able to find high quality cabinets at a fraction of the price. He really hit the nail on the head.
Once the cabinets were shipped, demolition began. The floor became an issue since our old tile was stuck down so hard it took a jack hammer. Since the slab was all dented, we'd need to level the floor, so I thought it would be cool to do concrete instead of tile. Jason thought about it and liked the idea and he hunted down a subcontractor. I'm really happy with the final result.
The counters and backsplash tile were exactly what I wanted.
The centerpiece is a rolling butcher block island that Jason built from scratch. It replaced an old heavy boxy island. The new island is nimble enough to move around the kitchen as needed. The craftsmanship is amazing. It's really a beautiful and functional piece.
To add a little flair, an artist friend and I got together with Jason to design a rusted steel vent-a-hood cover. This wasn't all planned ahead, it just evolved through dialog. That was the best part of working with Rapid Remodeling, everyone in the crew (Josh and Israel) was very artistic and we thought along the same lines. The end result was a collaboration that far exceeded the original design.
And as an added bonus, the crew even let our dogs out while we were away. They are all dog lovers, that's a good thing!"

"I cannot say enough good things about Walter Barber. He's a fine, upstanding man in the old tradition. He stands behind his work 100% and his word is his bond. He takes pride in his work and goes above & beyond as a matter of course. The job(s) took longer than expected, but without question, it was worth the extra time. (seriously: why complain about extra work being done with strict attention to every detail?). We could not have been happier with the result. Nothing was left undone. Nothing! When Walter was finished, the house looked absolutely superb. Magnificent, actually. The house sold in ONE day for MORE than we listed it for! Enough said... THANK YOU WALTER! :)"

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can add a bathroom to an unfinished basement, but you’ll want to take proper precautions if doing so. As with any bathroom addition, you’ll need to make sure that it’s approved by local building authorities first. With unfinished basements, you especially need to keep an eye on proper ventilation practices.

It is generally more affordable to finish a basement than an attic, though it ultimately depends on how you plan to use the space. The average cost to finish a basement ranges from $7 to $23 per square foot, while attic renovation costs $30 to $60 per square foot. However, a simple attic conversion to a storage space will cost significantly less.

There are several small, inexpensive upgrades you can make to upgrade your basement. Although you still need to adhere to building codes and obtain permits when necessary, you can complete small but mighty tasks like painting the masonry walls and installing entertainment devices to make the space more usable.

A walkout basement is considered to be partially below grade because at least one wall is entirely exposed. In some cases and in specific municipalities, inspectors and appraisers will still count walkout basements as below grade, which means the space can’t serve as living space or be rented out. If you intend on using the area as living space or a separate apartment, you should check with your local building department to make sure it’s legal to do so.

The best type of basement ventilation system depends on your budget, the moisture in your basement’s air, and the types of windows you have down there. You should consider all of these factors when choosing a ventilation system. However, the most effective method for basement ventilation is an energy recovery ventilator (ERV) or a whole-house ventilation system, which preheats or precools incoming air from the outside while also managing water vapor.
