"Such a wonderful group of men who carefully wrapped our antique furniture and packed my other antiques. They moved them all into our garage with the smaller pieces gently lifted into the 2nd story. The same group returned three times to return the furniture into the house and then to unwrap the antique items and placed them back into place. Nothing was broken or chipped. In 13 years and 4 moves via the military; we have never had such professional and pleasant movers. I will use them again."

"Terrible, they came highly recommend and I was in tears by the end of the move. They were over an hour late and did not call to notify me they were running late. They got grease all over my couch and mattress to the point that they are ruined. The scratches several walls, doors, and decking. They were NOT equipped to move the safe although they told me they do it all the time. My beautiful hardwood floors have several deep scratches in them from they way they moved in the safe. Terrible experience and will never use them or recommend them. They also did not wear masks and used very foul language. Very unprofessional."

"Appreciated fact that the owner, Mr. Naderhoff, came to the house to do a pre-move survey...I found no other company that still did this. Heritage Moving and Storage has a website which many others do not. Website is clear about what certifications, etc. he has, too. He shared info about the history of his company and was responsive to phone/texts which also reassured us. He was clear about what was included in his pricing and that the less time it took for his guys to move us, the price would decrease. We had 3 men move us. We really liked the fact that the men had worked for him and with each other for a long time; tells us he's a good employer and they are reliable employees, too. Everyone was very polite, careful with our furniture, floors, doorways, used good moving techniques, etc. All the things you would hope for with a move. My husband and I are "experienced" movers as we have moved a lot having served in the military for 27 years. This was probably the easiest and best move of the bunch. We found that a bed frame that was bent a bit when we were getting it set up at the new house and presume it happened enroute. We had opted to put it together ourselves, otherwise the men would have seen it at the time. We were able to manipulate the metal to get it to fit and there isn't any damage visible to the eye."

Moving questions, answered by experts

You should give yourself ample time to pack clothes for a move. For best results, begin packing at least a few weeks before moving. The packing process may take shorter or longer depending on how many clothes you have and the size of your home. Start with clothing that’s out of season and work you way to the pieces you plan to pack in your moving-day suitcase.

Disassembling a shed before you move it could save space and ease the process of loading it onto a moving vehicle. However, you should only disassemble it if it was designed for the possibility of re-building it at your new home. Consult the original process and materials required to build the shed in the first place when considering this option.

It’s typically not advisable to move heavy furniture by yourself. However, if you are confident that you can do it safely, there are several different tools you can use, including a hand truck, a four-wheel dolly, or an appliance dolly. If you’re moving furniture upstairs or downstairs, a hand truck is the most suitable choice. Regardless of what you choose to use, always ensure that the furniture is well-balanced and secure by using lifting straps or tie-down straps to keep it in place.

To pack mugs safely for a move, start by lining the bottom of your moving box with padded material like bubble wrap. Wrap each mug individually; for a snug fit, you can tuck the ends of the bubble wrap sheet inside the mug. Place the wrapped mugs in the box, using a box with slots for extra separation if available. The key to preventing breakage is to pack the box tightly enough that the mugs cannot shift during transit. Fill any empty gaps with additional packing material. However, be careful not to pack more than 10 mugs in one box, as it can become too heavy to carry safely. Finally, be sure to label the box as “fragile” to alert movers to handle it with care.

When you submit your payment depends on the company’s policy and if you use the container for storage before and after the move. Some companies require a deposit, and others collect the fees on the day the container arrives at your home.
