"Mike L, David L, and Elias V from the San Antonio area came down and did my foundation repair. They were very good at what they do and very professional. I would highly recommend them! Thanks again guys for all your hard work! They had to install 17 piers and made it look easy. Cleaned up and can barely tell they were here. Thanks, Steve"

"From the listening ear and presenting a doable project as envisioned with a plan and estimate well within my budget, Matt Price represented Smart Foundations in the best unassuming positive way. From there, he passed on my request to Kendra, who confirmed and scheduled the project. Not only did she keep in touch with me as the start date was getting closer, she was very easy to reach by phone whenever I had a question or concern. Her response time is amazing. Joe's team worked really well together, seemed to enjoy working with each other, did an amazing clean job and communicated progress as well as showing what work was being done. The crew cleaned up everywhere, couldn't even tell there was cement, dirt, stone, metal, plastic, lining fabric and piping inside and outside during the construction. Maverick came an hour later to put in electrical. He surveyed the need and had it installed in a jiffy, also cleaning up the area. He left with a " I'm finished", & a "thank you ". I'm actually excited to see a first heavy rainstorm."

"Excellent. Honest and quick work. Mr. King was able to get someone out on short notice, to shim/shiv the piers. They performed a full scale cleanup last year, and I will only use Basement kings for any of my crawlspace work. Best in Texas!"

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, frozen pipes can cause a toilet to stop working correctly. If the pipes are frozen, water cannot flow, which can lead to two main problems. First, the supply line to the toilet tank may be frozen, which prevents the tank from refilling with water after you flush. Second, the drain pipe itself can freeze, blocking water from flushing away. As a temporary solution for a non-refilling tank, you can manually add water, but this is not a long-term fix. To clear a frozen drain pipe, you can try pouring warm water into the toilet bowl or tank and then flushing, as the warm water may help thaw the ice blockage. Ultimately, the best course of action is to unfreeze the affected pipes to restore your toilet to full functionality.

Most clogs are resolved quickly, often within an hour. More complex issues requiring pipe disassembly might take longer.

The first rule of plumbing is nothing but water, toilet paper, number one, and number two go down the drain.

To prevent clogs, get yourself:

  • A compast pail where you can clean plates, drain grease, and toss scraps and paper towels.

  • Drain screens for the shower, tub, and bathroom sink to stop hair, jewelry, toys, etc. from going down the drain.

  • Trash cans for everything that shouldn’t go down the drain, like dental floss, hygiene products, and cat litter.

P.S.: If you do drop your priceless ring down the drain, take a deep breath, and then follow these steps to retrieve jewelry from your drain.

Yes, flushing a clogged toilet can make it overflow. While flushing the toilet may push enough pressure through the system to dislodge the clog, this is unlikely. Your best bet is to use a plunger and hope the suction can break up whatever is blocking the pipe. If this doesn’t work, use a plumbing auger or call a pro to help.

Yes, drains are one common entry point for water bugs. However, water bugs may enter your home through various locations including doors, windows, pipes, and vents. Water bugs are drawn to the dark and moist atmosphere drains provide, and can easily find their way into your home through sewer drain pipes. You can stop water bugs from entering through drains by regularly cleaning your drains and repairing faulty drainage systems.
