"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"We were happy with what the work that they did. The professionals had to work us in with other people, and it wasn't a big deal or any inconvenience. Lydia was above and beyond super. I know they had other jobs to do, but they helped me out. I have no negative comments to say about the company, or the professional."

"We cannot even begin to express how happy we are with Al's work! We needed kitchen cabinet resurfacing and Al's price was HALF the quote we got from Home Depot. He was incredibly professional when he came to give us a quote and understood exactly what we wanted. We felt we could trust him so much that we gave him the key to our home to do the work while we were on vacation. Al is a perfectionist and his work shows it. He will not take another job if he is working on yours, so he will complete your job before moving on to the next. During the work in progress, he sent us photos each week to show us how he was coming along. He was very meticulous. He moved our furniture and covered it all up with plastic. At the end he moved everything back, cleaned up the construction area so that we didn't even know he was there. Throughout the construction, many of our neighbors came by to look at his work, and several of them hired him on the spot to do work for them when he completed ours. We are convinced that Al can do just about anything with courtesy, pride, and professionalism that we have never been able to find from ANYONE else in this area, and even with the cost of his travel time, his price was very reasonable....and exceptional for the quality of the work he does. We would not hesitate to call him back for just about anything that we need....inside or out!"

Cabinet Making questions, answered by experts

A cabinet installer measures and designs cabinet units for homes and businesses, including determining how to hide large appliances in the kitchen. They then prepare the spaces and install either custom, semi-custom, or stock cabinets. These contractors may apply paint or stain, or they’ll hire a third party to perform these services.

Durability and appearance are the two main drawbacks to installing budget kitchen cabinets, which are often made of less-durable wood or plastic. You're also limited to stock options, meaning you may have a small selection from which to choose.

On the plus side, you can always paint these more affordable kitchen cabinets to make them look the way you want.

There are several ways to save money and keep costs down when building an outdoor kitchen. Building on an existing patio can reduce the cost of a new foundation, especially if it's close to the house. You can also save on utility line installation by opting out of a sink and using a built-in propane or charcoal grill. If you have the skills, tackling parts of the project yourself—like building or finishing cabinets, installing fixtures, and constructing seating—can lead to significant savings. Reusing appliances you already have is another great way to cut costs. Finally, consider starting small with just the essential components and adding more features over time as your budget allows.

There are some tips when hiring a cabinet installer that’ll help prepare you to create a new space. When installing new cabinets, keep the following in mind:

  • Hire the same cabinet installer professional to measure, design, and install the cabinets, as opposed to jumping between companies.

  • Discuss what types of cabinets the installer offers, including stock, semi-custom, and custom, to give yourself options.

  • Discuss financing options with your installer, as this project can be expensive depending on your chosen cabinets.

  • Discuss your cabinet installer’s prior experience, including asking for photos of previous projects.

Yes, garage cabinets are worth it to organize the tools, supplies, equipment, and gear you’ve been storing in the garage. Garage cabinets provide a great way to declutter your space while also preserving your valuables—keeping them free from dust, debris, and various weather elements. Not to mention, garage cabinets also elevate the look of your garage, which can prove beneficial when you’re looking to sell your home.
