With four years of professional painting experience in both commercial and residential settings, I bring a deep understanding of the craft, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to quality that ensures every job is completed to the highest standards. Working alongside my father, who has been a painter for 30 years, I've gained invaluable insights and mentorship that has shaped my expertise. I combine the wisdom of decades of hands-on experience with my own fresh perspective to deliver excellent results. Whether it's a home makeover or a large commercial project, I’m confident in my ability to provide an efficient and professional service that exceeds your expectations.

Painting questions, answered by experts

It’s possible to paint inside when it rains, but you should keep the windows closed and have a dehumidifier in the room to maintain proper humidity under 70%. Note that keeping the windows closed means you won’t have ventilation, so double-check that you’re using a no-VOC paint for safety. Even then, it’s a better idea to wait until the rain has passed before you start painting.

Most high-gloss paint will stick to plastic. However, it’s important to prepare your plastic surface to have the best success with painting it. Even the most plastic-adhering paint can struggle to fully adhere to a surface that no one has properly prepared. Ensure that the surface is clean and free of grease or dirt. If your plastic is very slick, you may also want to lightly sand it to increase the chances of complete adhesion.

Priming stucco before painting is not an absolute requirement, but applying a primer coat is recommended. Primer is designed to serve as a strong bonding agent between the stucco surface and the outer paint layers. Using a primer can also help produce even coverage and color for a better-looking final product.

No, you cannot paint over soot. Soot is a type of contaminant and if not properly removed can cause further damage to your paint and walls. Adding paint directly over soot can result in your paint color changing in appearance and potentially peeling over time.

The length of time it takes to paint a house will depend on whether you’re doing it yourself or hiring a pro, and the time of year in which you’re planning to do it. A professional paint company can likely complete the job within three to four days, but they may need more time to account for bad weather. By contrast, it may take a week or more when opting to DIY.
