Lloyd Molina managed the project which included removing a fireplace front and replacing it with a ceramic tile front to give the room a modern contemporary look.  He provided with me with helpful advice on the look I was trying to achieve and knew how to take off the old fireplace front without damaging the floor tile and wall that surrounded it.  As a few issues came up, Lloyd provided solutions and checked the work of his team every night to make sure I was happy.  The project turned out exactly how I wanted it to be and I?m very happy with my new fireplace front.

His tiling team (Tony and Rubin) was highly skilled, punctual and respected my home by placing drapes on my furniture and floors to protect them from dust and possible damage.  They completed the project in two days which I thought was great considering they had to remove the old fireplace and tile a wall 12? tall and 6? wide.

Lloyd and his team were great and I would recommend them for any tiling project.

Floor Polishers questions, answered by experts

Like any other type of flooring, you will need to keep up with regular maintenance on your epoxy floors to keep them in the best shape possible; however, it is not like hardwood floors inside a house, which require special care and more consistent maintenance.

Just make sure you use the right cleaning tools and solutions. Avoid using harsh tools like scrub brushes or hard-bristled brooms. You should also skip cleaners that are highly acidic, including white vinegar.

Each flooring material has its own maintenance requirements and cleaning techniques. For example, hardwood floors may require occasional refinishing and specialized cleaning products, while vinyl and laminate are easy to clean with regular sweeping and mopping. Concrete and natural stone, on the other hand, may need periodic sealing to maintain their appearance and durability. Follow manufacturer recommendations and utilize appropriate cleaning methods to preserve the integrity of your chosen flooring material.

Before starting on a full refinishing project, determine if your floors need to be completely sanded down to the bare wood or if the damage is shallow and mostly cosmetic. Deep scratches and gouges will require you to rough sand using a drum sander or belt sander, but small surface scratches or floors that have only lost their luster don’t need a complete overhaul. Instead, you can skip the rough sanding step and sand-screen the old finish with a buffer, removing only the top layer of polyurethane.

To maintain tile and grout, clean the surfaces regularly with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and wipe up spills promptly to prevent buildup. It is also important to reseal the grout every 1-2 years to maintain its durability.

To properly maintain and care for hardwood floors without damaging the finish, establish a regular cleaning routine. Sweep with a broom or microfiber dust mop daily, or vacuum weekly, to remove dirt and debris that can scratch the surface; be sure to clean in tight corners and under furniture. For a deeper clean, use a damp mop with a cleaner specifically designed for hardwood floors, but avoid using harsh chemicals or excessive water, as this can damage the wood. You can further protect your floors by placing mats at entryways to catch dirt and moisture and putting felt pads under furniture legs to prevent scratches. For long-term care, refinish the floors as needed to keep them looking their best.
