Small jobs welcome

"I hired John to replace my rotting 20 year old fence. The back was covered in poison oak/ivy and did not look easy to take down at all! He dug all new posts in and started the fence from scratch. Even with all of that he finished the job in 3 days-both the back and side fence. He added a gate and the fence is sturdy and looks absolutely fabulous. He did a great job staining the fence as well. Oh, and he trimmed my trees and left the back and front yard looking meticulous! He was very reliable, did great work, did everything he said he was going to do, as well as being prompt and reliable with communication. All of these jobs were priced very reasonable. I have ended up hiring him on several other jobs since, including cleaning my gutters and doing some sheetrock/trim/door repairs in the house, installing a microwave as well as new ceiling fans and a new hot water heater. Overall a very reliable and skilled worker that I would recommend ?."

Grill Assembly questions, answered by experts

The difference between a built-in and regular grill is installation and design. A built-in grill is integrated into an outdoor kitchen or structure, often within a countertop or island. It is a permanent fixture. A regular grill is standalone, portable, or cart-mounted, allowing mobility and versatility in placement. Built-in grills are typically larger with more cooking space, while regular grills come in various sizes. Built-in grills are favored for creating a custom outdoor cooking area, while regular grills provide convenience and flexibility.

Gas grill installation costs around $540 on average, not including the price of the actual grill, and most homeowners pay between $120 and $1,400. This total will go toward laying down a new gas line, connecting it to your existing gas system, pressure testing the line, and connecting it to your grill. Your total project price will depend on the length of the gas line, whether or not the line needs to be installed underground, and the cost of the permits in your area.

The cost of a gas grill burner ranges from $10 to $100 or more, depending on the brand. If you’re replacing one burner, consider replacing all the burners simultaneously. Although it will cost more upfront, it will save you the hassle of replacing a burner every few months, and your grill will cook more evenly and efficiently.

While it’s possible to repair minor grill issues like replacing a burner, more serious issues are clear indicators that you need to replace the entire unit. A few signs that your gas grill may be at the end of its life span and it’s time to consider replacing it include:

  • Rusty or cracked firebox

  • Weak, yellow, or uneven flames

  • Flaking, cracking grates

  • Leaking or cracked propane hoses

  • Failing igniter

  • Heavy buildup of grease

Local codes often mandate specific fittings, permits, and vent considerations for permitted function and safety, which are enforced by professionals.
