"Leo and his crew are awesome! Professional, courteous and experienced. They removed a very old and tall pine tree that had grown over the years almost into the corner of my house. Also had them remove a dead tree. They worked in perfect sync and never slowed down. They came back the next day and removed the stump and trimmed limbs hanging over the house. Cleanup was complete! They were promptly here at 7:00am both days. If you want the job done right, call LEO!!"

It’s not customary to tip HVAC technicians, and most professionals won’t expect it. If you run an AC with a dirty filter, it could allow dust and dirt to build up in your ductwork, which could make you sick. At the same time, your air conditioner won’t work as efficiently as it would with a clean filter, likely resulting in less airflow, more wear and tear on your HVAC system, and higher energy bills.

There are several reasons why your furnace filter might get dirty quickly. For example, if you run your furnace often, more air—and therefore, more contaminants—will flow through the system and clog your filter. Having pets is another reason that your filter accumulates dirt quickly. Also, thinner filters will get dirty faster than thicker ones.

Air filters with a high MERV rating, 11 or above, shouldn't cause airflow problems in most residential systems. However, the airflow can be restricted in some HVAC systems if they aren't designed for high MERV ratings. If in doubt, a local duct installer should inspect your ductwork so that you know what your system can handle.

For washable or electrostatic air conditioner filters, you can soak and rinse them with water. If you rinse the filter with water, make sure to use a faucet, shower head, or garden hose with a gentle water pressure setting, as strong water pressure could damage the filter.

But for disposable filters, water could ruin the filter, even allowing mold to grow in the filter. Instead, these filters should be replaced.
