"Easily handled a repair on a king size bed frame that had its mattress supports bent by painters moving the bed and dragging it on the carpet. I am elderly and cannot do this type of work any longer."

"Sean and Erin were the first to respond to my job request on Angie’s List. I decided to use them for various reasons which included that prompt reply and their interest in my business ( glass blown art). They arrived on time and fixed each door exploring their individual issues. They evaluated an extra problem I had and recommended a solution. They will come back and give pointers to our son and the rest of our crew on how to lay ceramic flooring. We were lucky to find Sean and Erin, they will probably become part of our go to team for general repair solutions. Thanks so much for a job well done!"

Small jobs welcome

"Mr. Michael Bell, Jr from Bell Home Repairs is outstanding. He is very cordial, detailed, and very thorough with assisting you with your home needs. I needed to possibly have a handicap bar installed in the bathroom and he took exact measurements with just a picture of my bathroom wall etc. and even picked up the bar for me. He is very organized and methodical in the work he does. In addition, I had a raised toilet seat that needed to be built and he did that in a matter of minutes. He is very affordable and reasonable. I truly recommend Mr. Bell for any of your handyman needs. You will receive a professional and welcoming service from him. We commend our service men in the Military and he is one of them. Thank you, Mr. Bell and God bless you and your family. I will continue sharing your business card and phone number with more neighbors and friends who are in need of your type of services."

Childproofing questions, answered by experts

The average cost of childproofing services is $410. This cost can range from $190 to $630 or more, depending on the size of your home and what services you need.

The location of the childproofing additions also plays a vital role in the overall cost. For example, a bathroom is relatively small and costs about $150 to fully childproof. However, if you have a swimming pool, you could spend as much as $1,500 to $10,000 to make it entirely safe for small children, including adding a pool fence.

Yes, tamper-resistant outlets are designed to be safe for use in homes with children. They feature a spring-loaded shutter that blocks the electrical slots when not in use, which helps protect children from electric shock if they try to insert an object. While they are the safest option available and highly effective, it's important to note that few things are truly 'childproof.' Children may still try to imitate adults by inserting a plug. For this reason, it's best to use tamper-resistant outlets over less effective solutions like plastic covers, which can be removed or pose a choking hazard. Always supervise young children around any electrical outlets or devices.

Many parents, especially first-time parents, agree that professional childproofing is worth it. These professional childproofing services are trained to recognize dangerous home situations that many people would overlook until it's too late. Furthermore, professional childproofing experts have access to top-of-the-line equipment you can't purchase at most stores, providing longevity and peace of mind.

Yes, tamper-resistant outlets are a safe and effective way to protect children from electrical hazards. They feature a spring-loaded shutter that blocks the outlet slots when not in use, preventing a child from inserting foreign objects. While they are the safest option available, it's important to note that few things can be considered truly 'childproof.' Children may still try to imitate adults by inserting a plug, so constant supervision around any electrical device is recommended. Tamper-resistant outlets are a much safer solution than childproofing covers, which can be removed by children and may pose a choking hazard.

A professional childproofer will first survey your home to identify potentially dangerous locations, including stairs, cabinets, and pools. Once approved, your professional will order and install the safety equipment for you.

Some ways a childproofing professional will make your home safe include:

  • Anchoring large furniture

  • Installing safety gates

  • Installing safety latches on cabinets and drawers

  • Covering railings that could trap a child

  • Covering electrical outlets

  • Installing a swimming pool fence

  • Removing or covering electrical cords where possible
