"We hired Mr. Reeks to remove 3 old doors and install new ones. Cory is very personable, keeps you informed about any issues and discusses solutions quickly. He arrived when he said, and completed what was agreed upon in a timely manner."

I got started working for different contractors and people I knew doing things like leveling houses, painting, siding, framing and deck building, one of the ones I'm most proud of is an 1100 sq foot three teir deck that wrapped the edge of a pool. I do a little of everything, painting, decks, remodels, flooring, siding, framing. You name it. I have pictures from previous jobs and references, the latest was repairing a floor that was rotting out from water damage.

Childproofing questions, answered by experts

Yes, tamper-resistant outlets are a safe and effective way to protect children from electrical hazards. They feature a spring-loaded shutter that blocks the outlet slots when not in use, preventing a child from inserting foreign objects. While they are the safest option available, it's important to note that few things can be considered truly 'childproof.' Children may still try to imitate adults by inserting a plug, so constant supervision around any electrical device is recommended. Tamper-resistant outlets are a much safer solution than childproofing covers, which can be removed by children and may pose a choking hazard.

The best time to hire a childproofing professional is at least three months before your due date. Although it might seem early, proper childproofing takes time, especially if you need extensive services like a pool fence. Getting your house ready now before your child is on the go only helps to protect them at all stages of life.

In many cases, you can DIY home childproofing with success. You can purchase childproofing tools like cabinet locks, outlet covers, and table-edge guards and install them easily.

However, it's best to have a professional childproofing service work on larger projects like pool safety or furniture anchoring. These safety measures can take a lot of time and effort to DIY, plus, you want to ensure the tasks are done correctly to keep your child safe.

A professional childproofer will first survey your home to identify potentially dangerous locations, including stairs, cabinets, and pools. Once approved, your professional will order and install the safety equipment for you.

Some ways a childproofing professional will make your home safe include:

  • Anchoring large furniture

  • Installing safety gates

  • Installing safety latches on cabinets and drawers

  • Covering railings that could trap a child

  • Covering electrical outlets

  • Installing a swimming pool fence

  • Removing or covering electrical cords where possible

Many parents, especially first-time parents, agree that professional childproofing is worth it. These professional childproofing services are trained to recognize dangerous home situations that many people would overlook until it's too late. Furthermore, professional childproofing experts have access to top-of-the-line equipment you can't purchase at most stores, providing longevity and peace of mind.
