"After an extremely disappointing experience with another painting company that left my home damaged, unfinished, and in terrible condition, I was honestly stressed and unsure if the situation could even be fixed. Thankfully, I found Michael and Hansel with Guaranteed Painting, and they completely turned everything around. From the beginning, they were professional, prompt, respectful, honest, and incredibly detail-oriented. They didn’t just paint over problems — they took the time to properly repair and correct the mess left behind by the previous company. The difference is unbelievable. Abraham and Jose showed up on time each morning, communicated clearly throughout the project, kept the work area clean, and truly cared about the quality of their work. The finished result exceeded my expectations, and my house finally looks beautiful again. Thank you Guaranteed Painting!"

"Interior painting was incredibly well done. RAMOS CONSTRUCTION completed a top notch job under some difficulties. My home is fully furnished and we had daily rains which added to some slow downs. However this crew went above and beyond to make sure that the job was completed with great care. I will absolutely hire this company again. I am planning on having them come out to complete additional projects in the near future. Frieda Carmouche"

"DAV construction replaced my roof and gutters, and painted stained ceilings. All work was done promptly with high quality. Mike Akins, a senior project manager at DAV construction, was our contact. Mike is knowledgeable, honest, responsive, and professional. He worked with our insurance company and processed all the paper work. He discussed with us all the work in details before the work started, and he came back to inspect the work a few times afterwards. I am impressed by his work and service. I will definitely recommend Mike and DAV Constructions to my friends."

"All of the work was done as described and in a timely manner. Alvaro (president) explained the process and answered any questions we had. The crew was punctual, courteous and respectful of the property. Windows, doors and vigas were taped off, drop cloths were used where material would splatter. After the completion of the project everything was cleaned up and put back in place. The workmanship is outstanding and the house looks brand new."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

You’ll need to restrain your deck when you notice fading, cracking, peeling, or mold and mildew over a moderate to large area, or when it’s become especially difficult to clean. As for how often to stain a deck, plan to do it every two to three years or whenever you start to notice extended damage.

Limewash and whitewash are two techniques used to give brick a light, matte finish, but they differ in composition, application, and permanence. The best choice depends on your aesthetic goals and the specific surface.

Composition

  • Limewash: A natural and environmentally friendly option made from limestone, water, and sometimes pigments. It is breathable and soaks into porous surfaces like brick.

  • Whitewash: Traditionally made from lime, water, chalk, and binders, but a similar look can be achieved with watered-down white paint. It is paint-based and sits on top of the surface.

Appearance and Finish

  • Limewash: Provides a natural, textured appearance that allows the brick's character to show through. It offers a more traditional finish.

  • Whitewash: Creates a softer, more opaque finish, often used for a rustic or shabby-chic style.

Application and Permanence

  • Limewash: Is semi-permanent and can be removed, making it a good choice if you might want to change the look in the future. It requires more skill to apply and cannot be used on previously painted brick.

  • Whitewash: Is a more permanent solution. It is more forgiving to apply and can be used on painted brick. However, because it sits on the surface, it can trap moisture.

Ultimately, if you want a breathable, natural, and reversible finish for unpainted brick, limewash is a great option. If you need a more permanent, opaque coating that can be applied over painted surfaces, whitewash is the better choice. Whitewashing may also be more economical, costing approximately $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.

Liquid rubber is great for waterproofing, but it can damage your deck if it’s not applied correctly. First, it can trap moisture in the wood if the deck isn’t completely dry before application.  Second, applying it too thickly can create a heavy, rubbery surface layer that peels and cracks under fluctuating temperatures. For the best results, ensure the wood is completely dry before application, and apply the liquid rubber in thin, even coats. A quick inspection every now and then will help you catch any issues early, keeping your deck protected and looking its best.

Essential tools include brushes or rollers, drop cloths, sandpaper or power sanders, and appropriate cleaning supplies. Quality materials ensure long-lasting results.

Stain is meant to be absorbed by the porous wood, allowing some of the natural grain to show through. With that in mind, you don’t want to add more stain than the wood can absorb, as you risk covering up its natural markings. Generally, two coats is the maximum you should do, although very dense hardwoods may only be able to take a single coat.
