"Cardona Tree Service did an excellent job removing a huge dying tree for me. They cut the tree, ground the stump and hauled every thing off. They did a great job of cleaning up after they were done. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing tree service. Larry M."

Customers say: True professional

"it's a bit pricey, but if my trees are saved it'll be worth every penny. Dr. Bob was incredibly nice and he knows his stuff. After 45 years in the business I would hope he does. Another plus? He didn't treat my questions as if I were stupid. They drove from Dallas TX to my home in deep east TX a drive of over 4 hours and that was all in one day. I would definitely recommend B&W Insect control and tree service!"

"The service was excellent! Fast, well-priced, and left my property looking ten times better than it was! I would absolutely contract with them again. In fact, I plan to soon! I was putting a home on undeveloped land that I had cleared of some major trees, leaving stumps and major root systems right in my front yard. I contacted Riley, and they responded early, got to work right away, and pushed through multiple hours of work in the middle of summer with speed, efficiency and professionalism. When they were done, you could hardly tell there had ever been trees in my yard! If you’re looking for good work done quickly and with respect and care for your property, you should absolutely use this service."

"Wow is all I can say. We had about an 85 foot tree directly over our house. Other tree services were too scared to cut it (they would drive by, stop, and just drive away after saying they werenâ t going to touch it) but not these guys. Initially, we were just going to trim the limbs over the house BUT after we saw how good of a job they did, we just told them to get it gone. Super professional, knew exactly what we wanted and how to get it done. My wife and I have never seen someone cut a tree down over the house and it was a super cool experience to watch. 10/10, would highly recommend and will definitely be using them again for any tree trimming needs."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

If executed correctly your tree should survive after being transplanted to a new spot. However, effective transplanting requires six months, careful root pruning, safe transport to the new location, and replanting in prime soil conditions. You’ll also need an appropriately sized root ball for a complete tree transplant. A good rule of thumb is that, for every inch in diameter, your tree’s root ball needs to be around 11 inches. So a tree with a diameter of six inches needs a root ball of approximately 66 inches.

Before you cut down a dead palm tree, try to revive it using the methods listed above. However, there are instances when it makes sense to remove a dead palm tree, including:

  • The heavily infected tree will infect nearby trees, bushes, and plants.

  • The palm’s roots are overtaking your yard, foundation, and sidewalk and causing structural damage.

  • The tree is unstable and a hazard to your property, your neighbor’s property, and pedestrians.

The best time to trim trees is in late fall through winter when the tree has slowed its growing for the year. Cold weather stops insects and fungal growth from attacking a new tree wound. Summer and fall are considered the worst times to trim trees, but it’s permissible in certain scenarios, such as tree disease, damaged branches, or small, aesthetic cuts.

Unless there’s some sort of rule in your community’s homeowners’ association that requires you to remove a stump, there’s no law that says you have to take it out. If you’re not wedded to the idea of removing it, there are plenty of ways to get creative with this tree remnant. Using the stump as the medium for a wood carving or turning it into a planter are just two examples of ways to repurpose a tree stump.

It is possible to burn out a tree stump if it is dried out and in an area of your property with a large buffer. Drill holes in the stump and dig around the base so it burns more easily. Then, build a small campfire on top using kindling and firewood. You’ll need enough to keep the fire going for many hours to completely burn out the stump, especially if it’s large.

Monitor the fire closely to ensure it doesn’t spread, and have a hose on hand if it starts to get out of control. When the fire is out, break apart the burned stump and dig out what’s left of it.

If this sounds like a good option, learn more about how to burn a tree stump before attempting it, as it does come with risks.
