"Very pleased with the customer service and the quality of work done by AHC Spray Solutions. The owner, Clint, was on time for his initial appointment and was efficient in evaluating the job and providing an immediate estimate to complete the work. The workers showed up to do the job on time and did the prep and post-job cleanup very well. I am pleased with the work and recommend AHC Spray Solutions to anyone needing spray foam insulation work. "Great job, thoroughly cleaned both plenums (in and out), reattached ducts after cleaning (from plenum down and from duct grills up), duccts repositioned in the attic, blower disconnected and taken down for thorough cleaning. All furniture and stuff was vinyl-sheet covered. Vents were repositioned correctly. House smells fresh now. Fast, clean, efficient. Reasonable also, easy to work with. Would not hesitate to recommend this company. Thanks a lot"

Insulation questions, answered by experts

The most insulative type of insulation for behind drywall is spray foam insulation, but this is the most expensive insulation available. The most common insulation—sometimes considered the best for the value you get for the money—is fiberglass roll or fiberglass batt insulation, which is significantly more affordable but also far less insulative. The best kind of insulation for your house will also vary based on the climate in your area, your budget, and more. A professional insulation company can help you decide which type is best for your home.

The best type of attic insulation depends on where you live, your budget, and what stage of construction the attic is in. For example, if you're building a house, then structural insulated panels are a worthy investment since they're easy to install during construction and they're the most energy-efficient type of insulation.

Additionally, if you live in a very warm climate, then you can potentially save quite a bit of money by opting for reflective insulation, which is more affordable than comprehensive insulation but doesn't work well for cool climates. Blown-in, loose-fill, and spray foam insulation are all great options for attics in moderate climates.

Yes, spray foam insulation can be applied to your ductwork and effectively insulate your ducts. Blanket insulation is the easiest insulation product to DIY since it is easy to wrap around ducts. However, spray foam insulation can also benefit your HVAC system if applied to air ducts.

Cellular shades, also known as honeycomb shades, are the most energy-efficient and insulating window treatments. Their honeycomb structure is made of soft fabric that forms layered cell pockets. These pockets trap air, creating a thermal barrier that reduces heat loss in the winter and blocks heat gain in the summer. For even greater insulation, consider double- or triple-cell varieties. Side-tracked cellular shades, which seal the edges of the window frame, can further minimize air leaks and maximize energy efficiency.

The best R-value for home insulation depends on where you live and where you’re installing the insulation. Your climate zone plays the biggest role in determining the correct R-value, so be sure to know which zone you live in when determining the R-value you need.
