"I hired David and his crew to grind off existing plaster and resurface and stain a large area all around my pool and back patio. His guys did an okay job, but a few months later David would not answer my calls, and would not return my messages or email. I only had a simple question about the care of my surface and concerns I had about some premature wear appearing on the surface. Total Concrete Solutions is now conveniently out of business, and David has changed his business name to Concrete and Decorative Concrete: which also shows out of business, and was operating from a storage unit on 25890 US 281 S, and is now advertising under that name and a different phone number. There are numerous complaints on Yelp."

Concrete Repair questions, answered by experts

The best foundation repair method will depend on the issue you’re having, but usually, foundation instability is best fixed using supportive piers, like steel piers or helical piers. A professional foundation repair contractor or structural engineer should always decide what the best course of action is, and even then, it’s imperative that you also take measures to treat the underlying issue as well, like soil erosion or oversaturation from runoff.

You can buy a home with foundation issues, but understanding the extent of the problem and what solution you need is critical. If you learn that a home you’re trying to buy has a foundation problem, it’s not necessarily a deal breaker, but you should have a professional assess the issue to see how severe it is and know when to walk away from a foundation problem. Foundation issues can necessitate simple and affordable solutions or complex work that costs thousands.

Yes, you can fill cracks in concrete if you’re a somewhat handy homeowner. It’s important to know which concrete patching method to use, as small cracks require different approaches than large ones. It might seem challenging to determine which product to use and the tools necessary for the project, but with a bit of background, homeowners can restore their cracked concrete easily.

Cracks, spalling, uneven surfaces, and weather damage often necessitate professional repair or resurfacing.

Crumbling concrete steps will affect your ability to drill into the material and affix a sturdy railing. If the damage is primarily cosmetic, you might be able to DIY the repair with a patch kit. If the concrete is badly crumbling, hire a professional who specializes in pouring concrete. The average concrete step repair cost is $500 from a professional, but the extent of the damage will determine your actual cost. The professional may recommend a replacement if the damage is extensive.
