"We absolutely love our new windows and so does everyone who sees them. Our rep helped us pick the best match for our brick and kept our personal needs in mind when determining the design of the new windows. We have an upstairs room which had a window AC unit that we no longer need due to the windows being so well insulated. In fact, we have already seen a huge difference in our utility bills this past summer during record setting heat wave. We had a LOT of windows and installation took a couple of days but went very smoothly. We highly recommend Statewide Energy Solutions."

"We found The Window Source through Angie. From the quote to install the customer service was outstanding. The product is wonderful, and we can already see/feel the difference in replacing the windows. Highly recommend this company."

"Matt, Ted, and his crew were great. Very professional and extremely helpful. I had received bids from muliple companies and salesman including Sear and Home Depot and Matt at Legacy was far more straightforward and honest with me then any of the other groups. Not to mention that pricing was under what was quoted to me by other groups without losing the quality of the product. I had a specific leaking problem that could not be diagnosed until the windows were out. Unlike the other companies they did not just stop in the middle and refuse to continue the work due to a liability issue. They were able to diagnose the issue as not only the windows but the siding around the window. The same crew that did the windows then was able to help replace the siding. How nice not to have to deal with multiple work crews and to get this done in a quick manner possible thus saving my wall where water was leaking!! I highly recommend these guys and I will be using them in the future for all my window needs. Shane in Carrollton, TX"

"Overall a good experience. I've seen the other reviews and most of the complaints are because of the time it takes for the window company to make windows. If you're going to go a certain route folks it's going to take a while. It took me around 10 weeks. But I love my new windows and the differences amazing! And I got a great deal."

Windows questions, answered by experts

Most homeowners prefer to service their windows during the spring or fall when temperatures are the most bearable, and having large openings in your wall won’t drastically increase your heating and cooling bills. However, while these seasons are the most convenient, you’ll also tend to pay more for window repair due to the increased demand. If you want to reduce labor costs, consider making window repairs in the off-seasons. Avoid waiting until the heart of winter to do repairs, though, as you could run into leaks and heat loss issues.

Well water can leave ugly marks on your window. A vinegar-water spray will remove most well water stains from your windows. However, you can also use a baking soda paste if the stain is too stubborn. Consider applying waterproofing protection to the glass surface after cleaning for long-term protection. A protective film or spray layer also makes it easier to remove the water stains next time.

A garden window is about 16 inches to 24 inches deep. This extra space makes room for small potted plants, which is how the garden window, also called a greenhouse window, got its name. Because garden windows jut outward from the house, they need to be installed in a place where they won’t obstruct walkways.

Deciding whether to repair or replace a window depends on the specific issue, the window's age, and the cost-effectiveness of the solution.

Repair is often better for:

  • Minor issues such as a single broken glass pane, a stuck window, or small leaks. Repair is typically more affordable for isolated problems.

Replacement is the better long-term solution for:

  • Major problems like deteriorating or rotting frames, significant leaks, or drafts.

  • If your windows are over 15 years old, as repairs may only be a temporary fix for an aging unit.

  • If you have a widespread problem affecting several windows.

Having a professional caulk your windows will cost you around $50 to $70 per window (or $1.25 to $4 per linear foot), including labor. However, caulking is one of the easiest DIYs there is, and you’ll save a lot of money by getting the supplies and doing it yourself. You’ll only pay $0.05 to $0.20 per linear foot if you DIY this one. Finally, different types of caulk don’t vary too much in price, with most tubes costing no more than $15 apiece (but typically only $3 to $10) at the most.
