"Chose this company because of the, absolute mistake. I called because we bought a home and the master suite addition wasn’t getting enough air and was concerned about the duct work. The tech came looked at the unit and within 2 min said we needed a larger unit and didn’t even go into the attic to check the ducts. Closed a vent and said we had no options but to buy a bigger unit. Also, tried to tell us the motor was going bad was leaking oil. Paid $115 service charge to have him close a vent and be on his way 27 minutes later. I called Rose City Air for a 2nd opinion and they showed up within 30 min. Lo and behold, the duct work is tied in incorrectly and needs to be fixed and no oil leak - it’s just a “weep” plug which is normal. Yes I could use a larger unit but we came up with a solution for a couple of hundred dollars before I spend $7000 on a new unit. I called the owner to explain the situation with his tech, he told me Rose City was taking my money and thanks for doing business with them. I’d say $115 well spent to not use this company and know what kind of service you could have expected."

A-frame houses pose specific challenges that can make heating difficult. Their open concept design with high ceilings can lead to a colder lower floor and a warmer upper floor. The easiest way to cover your HVAC ducts during construction is to use painter’s tape to affix plastic sheets over your vents and air returns in the area of your home where construction will take place. Keep in mind that closing off a portion of your system can put strain on your blower motor and air handler, so either shut the zone off or shut your system off while construction is underway. If you shut the zone, you can also hang plastic sheets over doorways to separate the construction area and keep dust contained.

If the temperature outside is around 90 or 100 degrees with the sun beating on your home’s roof, it’s common for the attic temperature to reach 150 degrees or more. This excessive heat shows the importance of having a radiant barrier in place along with insulation. The radiant barrier reflects the heat entering the attic back upward, keeping your home’s temperature more consistent.

Choose affordable materials for a cost-effective insulation installation (say that five times fast). The most affordable insulation for your garage is fiberglass. Fiberglass comes in batts or rolls and is relatively easy to install compared to other types of insulation. You can also install this insulation without needing to drywall over it, which can cut down costs.

We do not recommend fiberglass insulation for soundproofing purposes, especially if you are working on a room that’s part of your living space. Fiberglass insulation is dangerous, and the installation process is hazardous. It is also harmful to the environment. When there are so many newer, healthier non-fiberglass alternatives in the market, the lower cost of fiberglass insulation simply doesn’t justify the harm and danger it poses.
