I am a Handyman / repair consultant. If you have something that needs repaired, call me before getting an expensive plumber, electrician, HVAC tech, etc. I have a lot of experience working with my hands. Grew up having to fix our own things to get by, and eventually got to a point where I do everything myself to make sure it is done right.\n\nThere are repairs that must be performed by a licensed professional. Though I don't have a license for them, I do understand the work, and can help you understand what needs to be done in order to prevent you from being over-sold when they show up. \n\nI have built lots of furniture (IKEA, Amazon, up to custom builds), built and rebuilt picket fences, changed door knobs and locks, installed glass doors, installed smart switches, changed light fixtures and fans, replaced hard wired smoke detectors, some appliance repair, repaired irrigation systems, repaired and replaced toilets and garbage disposals, repaired leaking faucets, changed water heaters.. I could spend all day adding to this list. I've worked on basically everything in some form or fashion. \n\nI learned from people who just wanted things done right, and I carry those same genes. Only repair I do with duct tape is on duct work. I've spent a lot of time helping my neighbors with repairs, and heard stories like plumbers wanting $800 to fix a leaking sink sprayer, or $500 to fix a leaky sink handle. (Those combined repairs used $36 in parts.) HVAC technicians being told to always make sure to change out a part if they go to a call, even if it isn't bad. (big companies)\n\nBefore you drop a lot of money to one of these companies, make sure you aren't getting scammed. Call me, and I can be the middle man to save you money.

"It went really well. She does a really thorough job. You can tell that she's been doing upholstery for a while and knows what she's doing. Margie is really quick. If you give her a piece, usually she has it done within the week. Her prices are very reasonable and she does exactly what she says she'll do."

"I feel extremely fortunate to have found Vicki through Angie's List !  She is an extremely talented person who is very easy to deal with. She has a breath of knowledge that allows her to accommodate my tastes, but also ensure that the overall design is in sync with the design and location of my home.  She has  a very diplomatic way of suggesting when I'm going astray with my choices and in every case where she has told me "Trust Me"  I have been delighted ! She is very aggressive in helping me find the best pricing and often times will work with the vendors directly  hence saving me the time.  She also has excellent local contacts.  Everyone I've worked with through Vicki has been timely, professional, and highly competent.
My project is far from complete.  I intend to continue to use Vicki and her expert advice until the end !!!!"

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

New homeowners in Brenham should prioritize upholstering living room sofas and dining chairs, as these see frequent use and exposure to outdoor dust. Next, focus on entryway benches and porch cushions, which face humidity and temperature swings. Pay special attention to heirloom pieces and furniture in pet zones—selecting stain-resistant, breathable fabrics will help your investment withstand Brenham’s climate and lifestyle.

Helpful?

Upholstering work in Brenham helps address fabric fading from intense Texas sun, moisture issues from high humidity, and persistent allergen buildup common in rural areas. It’s especially valuable for restoring antique or heirloom furniture, protecting against pet hair and scratches, and refreshing pieces exposed to dust from nearby fields. Quality upholstery extends furniture life and keeps interiors comfortable despite Brenham’s unique climate challenges.

Helpful?

After an upholstering project in Brenham, save warranty documents, fabric care guides, before-and-after photos, and detailed receipts listing materials and services. Retain fabric swatches for future repairs and note recommended cleaning schedules, as local pollen and dust can be persistent. If you’ve restored valuable antiques, update your home inventory and keep contact details for local upholstery professionals for ongoing maintenance.

Helpful?

In Brenham, habits like leaving windows open during cotton harvest, skipping regular vacuuming after outdoor events, and placing furniture near unshaded windows can degrade upholstery. Allowing pets on fabric surfaces after playing outside, ignoring red clay stains, and failing to use dehumidifiers during muggy months also accelerate wear. Adapting cleaning routines to Brenham’s rural dust and humidity helps preserve upholstery.

Helpful?

In Brenham, faded or cracked fabric, persistent odors, and sagging cushions indicate the need for upholstering work. If you notice loose joints, broken frames, or exposed springs—especially after a humid season—structural repairs should come first. Check for mold or insect damage after heavy rains, as these issues must be resolved before investing in new upholstery to ensure lasting results in your TX home.
